The front mounting bracket on my 1998 S1's V&H ss2r exhaust has broken completely off the pipe, leaving two holes. The canister itself is fine. Is there any way to fix, or buy, the part of the exhaust pipe with the holes in it? I haven't seen anywhere that sells just this piece separately from the actual canister. Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

I bought the bike a year ago and have been addressing problems one at a time. It looks like it's been like that for a while because the rattling from the exhaust has caused the bracket to widen the initial break, creating the holes around the bracket. The gap seems to be a little too wide to weld given the thickness of the metal (at least for my welding skills). |

Not really junk but the early models were prone to this breakage, it was corrected in later revisions. Just find a local tig welder and patch it up, will be cheaper than a new can in the short run. Should be able to fill the span pretty easily. |

Just happened to me a week ago.. See this thread: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/357326.html I welded it back together (I am a licensed welder of all methods) and it broke again after 2 days.. Throw the piece of crap out the window. I will. |

Same thing happened to me. Replaced with Supertrapp. Supertrapp failed. Replaced with Buell Race muffler. Been running like a champ on this muffler for 30,000 miles... If you keep the V&H, get friendly with a local welder and watch Craig's or Ebay for a replacement... |

When you put the exhaust on these bikes it needs to be stress free and hang without pressure. Get it installed correctly and you will find most any exhaust will last. Joe |
