Was wondering how much millage you all have seen with the stock tires on the 1125R? I'm looking for the millage on the rear and front. |

I will get 4,000 out of the rear. Probably close to double that on the front. |

Ryan, I have been using the Conti-Road Attacks for 3 years on my XB12s. Have been getting 6,000 front and rear and they stick really good in the Colorado Canyons! JC |

I assume you mean the OEM Diablo 3 that came on the 1125R. That's going to vary greatly by the individual owner. I got 2300 rear and 2800 front on mine. Some owners have gotten more mileage and others less. Some have gotten as much as 6K out of front and rear. The reason I got so little out of mine might be related to this

1,962 F+R. Rear, cords showing halfway around the tire(dint look like that when I left the house) front, wear bars on the sides all the way around, the middle looked good, but the tire had no grip left. I have scorpion syncs with over 1,000 miles now, and I suspect they might go 4,000 for me. They are the equal or superior in every way to the corsa, (on the street) except perhaps at a high lean angle after running hard for a dozen miles in hot weather. We're talking toe dragging lean angle here. I find the edges of my tires fairly often. So, if you are doing a track day, consider the corsa III, otherwise I would definitely "stick" with the scorpion sync. YMMV. Just IMHO. |

I get about 2k out of the Corsa IIIs and about 2.5k out of the new Diablo Rossos. A really good/fast cornering rider would get much less -- say 1200-1500 out of a Corsa 3 rear. Anyone getting more than 3k is nursing the bike or just not cornering very fast. I tend to wear the front out -- or at least to the point it's cupping and makes the bars shaky when in a corner -- before the rear in really twisty stuff. |

Two_buells, I also had a nail in my tire at 1200 miles... Coincidence? I don't think so! When will Buell man up and admit to this issue? These are expensive tires - and subject, it seems, to picking up nails. Can we expect indemnification? Who do I speak to about my buy-back? I smell cover-up. That's a pretty good price. I pay $156 for a rear 180 Corsa III with free shipping from NESBA through my membership discount. |

I guess if you're not a squid, you're nursing the bike. whatever. I got 6100 miles out of my first rear Corsa III. I was also riding when it was 14˚to 25˚F. With the weather warming up, I expect closer to 4500 miles. I see no need in possibly lowsiding off a 1500 foot precipice to prove my riding abilities. Z |

go get the extended service plan with tire and wheel coverage. That will take care of your nails |

JPFive, I use Stan's tire sealant in my ATV, Lawn tractor, Mt bike, etc. I put about six ounces in my rear tire and I'm just waiting to for my next big trip and I'll replace both. I should start a "Nail in the tire thread" |

Well, just ordered 2 Scorpion Syncs rear. 1 goes to my XB9SX. The other will be waiting for the 1125R when I get it ridden up here. Going to order the front Scorpion Sync sometime later. |

Hey Doerman, I assume that by now you are on your 3rd or 4th set of tires and was looking for advise on what to get next. At 2200 miles I have cords showing on the rear and would like to get into a tire that will last a bit longer without sacrificing comfort and handling. I would appreciate anyone`s input on this topic. I remember this topic being discussed a few months ago and did some digging through the archives but now that there are more owners with experience on this matter I figured that it was time for an update in this thread. |

4200 miles from the stock Corsa III rear tire, guessing about 6500 miles available on the front. Once the roads become safer (less sand), the mileage per tire may go down a bit. by the way, I took the back wheel only to the local dealership and they did the mounting and balancing. The tech thought I had been doing burnouts, because of lack of wear to the sides. (a bit embarassing, but Im a wienie on the local roads this time of year) oh, thanks Zack for the useful information on removing the back tire! Ray |

Like I said before, I highly recommend the scorpion sync, I doubt you will find a sacrifice in either ride or handling, and expect many more miles than the corsa's. I know I got a whopping 1,962 miles out of my corsa's, so apparently I ain't a REAL good corner carver, but winter is barely over here in rainy northern California... Atleast they almost never need to sand the roads out here... |

I'm at 5800 miles now and still on the second set. I switched to Pirelli Stradas both front and rear. The Stradas are well on their way to quite a bit more mileage than the OEM set with about 3000 miles from the switch. Hard to tell, but it looks like I have another 1000 miles left in the Stradas. The Stradas are sport touring compounds and should get more miles by sacrificing handling. I can not tell any difference in handling though. Seems to do the job as well as the OEM Pirellis for my kind of use. |

Has anyone tried fitting a rear 190 Michelin Pilot Power road or race tyre in an 1125 yet? Brett |

> I guess if you're not a squid, you're nursing the bike. whatever. Zac, It's cornerspeed, not being a squid. I wear gear, I don't wheelie, I don't burn out, I don't even like to ride in traffic. I'm an average rider at best. You should see some of the tires of the guys in my club when we ride in AR or on track days. Feathering and boogers coming off the sides of the tires. It's not about being a squid. It's about cornerspeed. Corners munch tires because they get them really hot and put hard stress on them. *THIS* is what a tire looks like when someone knows how to ride (I can't get anywhere close to this): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v448/outrace/R10 07.jpg <img> |

I've never done a Track day. I did run over 50 BattleTrax events from 2000 to 2005. on my Firebolt I could use the rear tire all the way to the edges but I could never get the last 1/4" on the front. |

Just because someone can cook the edges of their tire on the racetrack, does that make them a great rider? If you're tires are looking like that all the time on the street, and you are showing cords on your rear at 1200 miles, without the benefit of some track days to speed the wear process up, I would say not that you are a great rider(which is a possibility, no doubt) but that you more likely are a frickin' idiot with a VERY POTENTIALLY SHORT LIFESPAN!. 70% rule. Learn it, live by it. Exceptions can be made , I'm sure, I sure have, but I think it's a pretty good guide line. Ya, I ride with plenty of guys, guys that race, do track days, retired racers, etc. You usually just see kids with tires that look like that, and they are usually track pull-offs that guys put on their street bikes. Just because someone isn't burning their tires up real fast doesn't make them a mediocre rider, some of the best riders know how to ride fast and win races and conserve tire life, too, you can't win a race your tires a destroyed a lap before the end. ( By the way, I never said I was any kind of rider, good or bad. I am a rider who likes to ride. SOmetimes I feel like I'm going pretyy good, but I bet Mat Mladin wouldn't think so!) |

A very good friend of mine USED to shred his tires like that. I used to kid him that I was going to take out a life insurance policy on him and get rich. After playing Superman following a bad high-side, he rides a little slower now. I can even keep up with him in the twisties now. Z |

FYI Just caught this on another board: $170 package deal for tires. Don't know how much of a difference there is between the supersport and the III http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1...kg_G&tier2= 219 |

Just went through another set of Corsa IIIs on a weekend ride in Oklahoma. At the cords at just over 1500 miles on the rear. The front looks about 1/2 used, but it's just starting to cup: some of the softer side tread shorter than the center tread at the same points in the shoulder's profile. This is the 3rd set to give me this kind of mileage when riding in a sporting fashion (street only) so I think that's about what they provide for me. On the most aggressive sections of road, I'm getting a very light feathering of the rear rubber, and I leave about 1/4-inch of chicken strip, so I'm not trying to be a street race hero here. I got a little over 2000 on the Diablo Rossos, and liked them just as well, so I'll go back to those next since they last longer and cost about the same. Anyone tried pilot powers on the 1125r yet? I use to love them on my VFR, but if there's one thing the 1125r DOES NOT need, it's faster turn in! That triangle profile of the powers could be seriously unideal. |

Damn, you must be real throttle happy! You might like the Scorpion syncs, especially if you aren't finding the very edges of your tires, I find the edges of mine, and still find them to be a real good tire. I have about 1400 on mine now, about where the corsa's started to go off, and they still feel like they were just wore in. They are definitely starting to show somw wear, but I could see getting close to 4,000 from them. Maybe. |
