I just lost a bid on soft Buell saddlebags with bracket and hardware for $175.00. How much do these bags cost and can you still buy them new from a dealer? These bags came off of a 2002 M-2, are they universal fit on the tubers? | ||

ive seen them go for about that, you might be able to get lucky if some dealer had them still sitting on the shelf, but probably unlikely, if i remember correctly, they fit all tubers except the s1 unless your s1 has a twin tail | ||

M2 bags came with specific mounting bracket, they are designated as M2 bags, but should work on about any bike, worst case as throw-overs. I think I gave $150 or so for mine, without the bracket, on ebay. Just keep looking they show up from time to time, set up a 'favorite search' on ebay to notify you when they pop up. | ||

I bought a set of universal Technic sportbike saddlebags off of Ebay a couple of weeks ago for my X1. There are decent size, expandable, and have built in rain covers. $40. Worked great on the Laughlin River Run last weekend. 500 mile weekend. Oh, and I conducted several wheelies as "testing" to make sure they were mounted well. | ||

There are some pics from the weekend out. I will get them up as soon as I can. They just mounted under the seat and a front support strap I wrapped around the passenger peg brackets. Worked like a charm and only 2 minutes to mount. They have carrying handles so when I arrived at the hotel I just pulled them off and brought them inside. | ||

I have the M2 soft bags and love them. I don't use the bracket that came with them as I found you don't really need it. I bought them on eBay for $75 5 years ago. They do work well and are made with good quality. | ||

I've been using the bags below, you should be able to find them priced fairly decently around at various stores. If you are referring to the ones I posted, no. They are just fairly stiff nylon with foam and fabric that pretty much keep their own form. There are no hard components involved in the construction. | ||

Well sarge, I guess what I'm curious about is, do they keep there shape or go flacid on you? I'm on a 99X1 and tyre and turn signal clearances are important. What are you riding, and how do they fit these peramiters? | ||

I bought a set of those on the forum for about a c-note. No bracket and missing a strap. Thought it was kinda high until I saw that auction you posted. They are great bags, better than the non-Buell bags that cost around 130 new. No, they keep the shape fine with zero problem. If they didn't hold shape I'd never want them on my bike empty. When I use them they're on a 01 M2 and don't get in the way or obstruct anything. I have a pair of the M2 soft bags that are like new. The only reason they are not new is that I put them on the M2 I used to own one time, took them for a two hour ride (on a dry day), and then removed them and never used them again. They have the bracket, all the straps, and even the piece of paper that describes them and tells you how to install them. You will have to acquire a couple of appropriate fasteners (5/16" if I remember right) of an appropriate length and head style for mounting the bracket. I'd probably choose button head/Allen (not Torx!) socket head cap screws. I'll offer those to Hugie03flhr for $150 including mail shipping to New Joisy. If Bill does not want them, they can go to the first taker as determined by arrival of emails. Yeah, it was. The last time I offered them up here no one wanted them. I was kind of surprised. I got back what I paid for them and am glad to see them get a good home on the back of a tuber. I think someone told me that they were $400 in the Buell accessory catalogs when they were still selling them. Jack | ||

You're more than welcome, Bill. Glad you like them. And I got you check too, thanks for that. If you want to have something that will let you load and unload quick while leaving the bags on the bike, look on eBay for some saddle bag liners. They are like zip shut bags with soft handles on them so you can pack them in the house and slip them into the bags. It also makes unloading much quicker when you're traveling although those bags will come off real quick. I have a set of the sort of classic style leather bags on my FXD and use the liners as the bags are not quick removable. Jack | ||

You were right Koz. they are a nice heavy nylon. Do you guys use Scotchguard or water proofing spray on them? Jack I'll keep an eye out for those inserts. I have them for my FLHR and they are great for trips. | ||
