1) i have replaced most of the non-stainless Torx hardware that holds on the various plastic bits; front fender, pulley cover, belt guards, and the oil cooler scoop as well as the mounting bolts. i used button head allen bolts, they have a slightly smaller head size, so i added a flat washer. they look much better in my opinion. especially on the oil cooler. there is still some more to do on the VR mounting etc. 2) i have ordered sliders from Dark Horse Moto! Stealth machine finish for the front and black racing spools for the rear. 3) i just ordered bags from LL Bean for the side bags as suggested here previously. i ordered 1 ea Small Adv Duffle and 1 ea Personal Organizer Family size with custom monograms for $89.40 shipped. 4) i removed the upper front part of the spoiler so i can paint it black, the silver color attracts so much filth! i bought stainless hardware for that as well since i dremeled the rivets out. 5) i removed the rear/front reflectors, and warning labels. 6) i added a 194NA bulb to the front euro light socket. 7) ordered tuono mirrors from my local aprilia dealer for $39.42 a pair. to do) more stainless hardware, gear for homecoming trip (small compressor, flashlight that plugs into lighter socket, tire plugs, comm device), i am also going to have someone make me a decal of the anniversary logo to add to my flyscreen, need to get a lift and make a muffler saddle, add remote button for trip/clock display, silverstar bulbs for HL, going to order the updated clutch cable stay, and i am sure there are a few more... i will post some pics later, any requests? |

What can you tell me about the Tuono mirrors? I notice a lot of people are putting those on. What's the story with them? Why so popular? |

hooper, i think they look better, supposed to offer a slightly better rear view, and are supposed to vibrate less. i have checked a few aprilia forums and they seem to all hate them and change to bar end mirrors! funny. here are some ref pics, as i've not received mine yet;

Is that rattle can black Sleez? If so, what kind and how'd you prep the surface? Tipsy |

Tipsy, it is off the shelf, the can is at home, i'll check. i believe it is standard true value brand of some sort, but did say good for plastic, interior/exterior. so i hope it adheres good. it went on pretty good. i think it is Premium Decor series, i used Satin Black. all i did since my part was real new, is scrub with simple green to clean it real good, and rinsed a lot! then i let it air dry and wiped down with alcohol just before spraying. it takes awhile to cure, i hope to install it tonight or tomorrow. we'll see how it holds up. |

SWMBO likes the tail pad. It took awhile for it to come in though as it was on backorder for a good bit! |

The pad is great for passengers-I've had very positive feedback from mine. Plus it looks way better than stock, imho. |

spoiler installed;
i am not sure how it will hold up, the paint was still a bit "tacky" after 24 hours. i went for a ride shortly after taking this pic, and when i came back, it still looked ok. time will tell. p.s. i forgot, i also lined the back side of the spoiler with some aluminum tape to help insure the paint doesn't get baked off! Sleez, I did the same thing to my chin fairing last year. The rattle can paint looked good for a while but then started chipping/flaking off. It looked worse than the dirty stock one had looked. So, earlier this year I ordered the same part for the TT, nice black plastic that will not chip. Cost around $30 or so. |

Pabuell, thanks for that tidbit, i will do that if my paint doesn't hold up. my flashlight came in today! great little light. after further inspection, it does NOT work on the Uly's accessory sockets. it needs an actual lighter socket!!! damn!!! here is an in depth review; http://www.dansdata.com/spotlight.htm (Message edited by sleez on April 28, 2008) |
