My problem with my 1125r, and I only have one, is that its almost too fast to enjoy. Hear me out on this one. I have a bunch of great curvy, scenic roads around me. On my M2, or even the gsxr750 I rode last summer, I could blast down these roads and have a great time, without being crazy. I could have fun on a ride without feeling like I robbed a bank or committed murder. But the 1125r is so smooth and so fast and so easy to ride smooth and fast, I feel that in order to have a fun ride, I need to break a lot of speed limits. By a lot. Dont get me wrong, Im not being unsafe or reckless, I just feel a little guilty. I try to be responsible and respectful of the law as much as I can, and very seldom speed at all, but on this bike.......I have a problem. Anyone else notice this? |

Yes, especially when there is a motorcycle cop hiding in the dark right after a nice right hand sweeping onramp...he loved the bike but still wrote the ticket. Even asked me if I wanted to work for them and gave me a application. I humored him thinking it was going to help with the ticket--it found the trash bin when I got home. I just couldn't do a job knowing that most of my interaction with the public is ruining peoples' days. Some guys get off on the power trip, but not this one. |

I know where you're coming from. It's not like I was trying to go 140 or pull wheelies on my Ultra Classic. The 1125R turns me into a kid with a new toy, and the bike has much more ability than I have riding skills. But, I have good riding gear and plenty of life and disability insurance, so at least if the Buell does me in I'll be doing something I enjoy. |

This is the first bike that I have owned that has more power than I can really use on the street. Most of my bikes have had more power than I _needed_ on the street, but...well, let's just say that I take your point, Socoken... When I first got the bike, I could hardly wait to take it full throttle after the break-in. Dang...things just happen real fast when you do that. I hit 130 in about the same time it took to hit 100 on my Long. I hardly ever pin the throttle any more, and I am still entertained. Fantastic bike! Jack |

One of my bikes is an 08 Busa 172 RWHP, there is never enough power. Its the rider not the bike. This question has been asked through the ages and will always be asked. |

I will agree that it is plenty fast but I would enjoy some more power. |

I to think it is to fast for normal street riding and I like to shift and this bike I find I have a problem getting out of third gear around town, I can get to 5th gear on my blast before the gas station down the street and only second gear on the 1125R, anyway I will be going to race school soon and will be on a track to use the power this bike is capable of and having lots of fun learning how the big boys play. I have not really gone on any roads that allow me to run a little wild yet up here in the north east. |

One of my bikes is an 08 Busa 172 RWHP, there is never enough power. Its the rider not the bike. A spec rarely quoted but one I've always found interesting is power to weight ratio. Assuming dry weight and the RWP numbers(very subjective) below is an interesting comparison between the Hayabusa and the 1125R. Hayabusa: Dry Weight - 475lbs RWP - 172 Ratio - 2.82 1125R: Dry Weight - 375 RWP - 130 Ratio - 2.88 Advantage 1125R |

Spectrum what about aerodynamics? so the 1125R's has the power to weight advantage, which would win on paper in a Drag race? which would win on paper on a top speed run? we have to be careful when comparing apples to oranges. ON paper it looks like the 11125R would win in a drag race, but in real life on a drag strip you have to get he power to the rear wheel without flipping the bike, the Busa off the line might have the advantage, now if both bikes used wheelie bars then I thing the 1125R would win, on the salt flats I think the Busa would win because it takes lots of horse power to get up to speed and the Busa has more power, but then aerodynamics comes into play. Now the real question is? WHICH ONE IS MORE FUN TO RIDE? |

My best bike buddy went out and bought the new busa in fear of the 1125R while I was waiting for it. We swap bikes and they feel about the same. But corners are another matter. You have this favorite corner that you know... mines this little 120° up hill with a late apex that goes to flat camber at the apex. I know the entry speeds in on the Uly, the lightning (and the z06). The very FIRST time I was on the eleven and the temps where above 50° (so could be confident in the rubber) I looked down at the speedo as I was nearing the apex and couldn't believe my speed! It didn't feel that fast, but I was going 10mph faster than the other machines on my FIRST try. The other day, my hooligan friend with the busa and I were leaving the airport on this 270° decreasing radius back exit that you can see all the way through. He said that trying to follow the 11 through there he was scraping pegs and still wasn't going fast enough, but was the fastest he'd ever been through there, but then again, these bikes have different purpose and shouldn't be compared. Socoken: I don't know what to tell you but I feel your pain. It's a said day to know that you are hell bound for hooliganism when your not used to it. But these feelings of guilt will pass with every little ball of rubber ruffed up on your tires. I have two more words for you... Track Days! |

Advantage 1125R uh-o the reality distortion field is kicking in. The Busa has run mid 9 second quarters in all the reviews. The 1125R's are in the 10's. But the advantage Buell in that comparison is the handling. duh, it also out handles gold wings. |

What Mr. Spectrum calculated is the weight/power ratio, upside down from power/weight. So the smaller the better. Add the rider weight and the difference is even more exaggerated. Busa wins the drag race, twisties are all 1125. |

Brad, Power to weigh ratio would be an advantage in the twists where lots of acceleration/deacceleration is required.. A drag race would go advantage to the Hayabusa where raw power is king. |

But, that is the "too fast" I was talking about Brad, the handling. Having to go a lot faster than normal EVERYWHERE I go, and worrying about getting busted. Im not naive, I know there are faster bikes in a strait line. Even gold wings go fast enough in a strait line to lose your license. Thanks to all those who feel my PAIN (Message edited by socoken on April 24, 2008) |

"Too Fast" what the heck are you talking about. Its faster then my friends bikes and at some point it wont be and I will then have to probably modify this one or get a new one. Of course I do think that sooner rather then later human endurance will be a factor. |

Hayabusa: Dry Weight - 475lbs RWP - 172 Ratio - 2.82 1125R: Dry Weight - 375 RWP - 130 Ratio - 2.88 Advantage 1125R That works great until you add the rider, then the ratio changes dramatically. Add 200lbs (240 in my case) for rider and gear and re-run the numbers. |

I agree the Busa is a poor handling machine. Thats why I keep buying Buells. I love beating the I-4 Crowd in the Colorado hills! That is unarguably 'Advantage Buell!" |

If the 1125r has a higher pound/horsepower ratio, why would it be advantage Buell? |

I agree with Kens(Socoken) first post. Really hard to go moderately on this bike but one way I found to do it in the twisties (tight and long both) is to use the great six speed gear box being aware of potential wheelies. I just use a lower gear, accelerate hard then slow pretty quickly also. Great fun and not quite as bad as full out speed runs and still I'm looking in my mirrors and feeling somewhat guilty. Still usually breaking the speed limits so I only do this where I feel relatively safe. I have pretty much learned where the different hazards are and the law hangs out. My rides are usually the same 5 or 6 runs. Always ride safe and enjoy. Bob |

1125r too fast? is that even possiable? i dont think so. now i might rethink that after the turbo and N2O |

That works great until you add the rider, then the ratio changes dramatically. Add 200lbs (240 in my case) for rider and gear and re-run the numbers. Add my 142lbs on the CR and run the numbers. I just might beat a fat guy on a busa. I think the CR could be faster in the 1/4 or at least the 1/8 because of the gearing, but wheelies are going to be a problem. You want to be crossing the traps near redline. Not sure what gear each bike would be in and at what rpm. |

Someone's math is wrong. The Hayabusa wins Generally calculated as hp/lbs, the Busa has 0.36 hp per lb The 1125R has 0.35 hp per lb Chart with different rider weights; (Message edited by sprintst on January 11, 2011) |
