best one was more of a dialogue between weekend warrior Duc riders. <Douche Canoe> "Is it supposed to shake like that?" (turns to friends and chuckles like with a WASP like accent) <Spidey> "Is your clutch supposed to sound like a marble in a coffee can?" ( I look at him and his friends and laugh the same way) <DC> ::looks as if I peed on his wife:: <crowd of people> "damn MOFO you just got served" (BTW his friends were in said crowd) <S> ::Rides away:: |

I only have two regarding my 2007 Firebolt: ...after walking back past some squids after parking the bike... "Was that you that just rode in?" "Yeah." "Man, what was that thing!?" "A Buell." "I thought so, cause that thing looks like a sportbike, but it sure don't sound like one!" ...sitting stopped at a light and a car pulls up next to me. The woman in the passanger seat yells to me: "Hey, what year is that?" "2007." "Really? I looks like ones of those old time bikes." "You really are a stupid b*$^#, aren't you? What year were you born?" "1980." "Oh, because you look like one of them old time people." Okay, so there wasn't any conversation after she said my bike looked "old", but that's what was going on in my head, lol. |

Not so much of a comment as a short dialog, but this one is my favorite:
quote:So I'm sitting there eating my quarter pounder and I can't help but notice the guys across from me keep looking out the window at my bike. Finally they decided to ask me about it. Guy 1: "Is that your bike." Me: "yep" Guy 1: "What kind is it?" Me: "It's a Buell." Guy 1: "It looks a Ninja." Me: "oh, well it's a Buell" Guy 2: "What kind is it?" Me: "A Buell." blank stare . . . looks back out at bike, then at me . . . Guy 2: "A what?" Me: "A Buell" Guy 1: "It looks just like one of them ninja bikes" Guy 2: "What make is it?" Me: "It's a Buell. The make is Buell" Guy 2: "No, I mean, what company makes it?" Me: "Buell. It's made by a company called Buell." another blank stare, looks back out at bike, appears to think for a minute, looks back at me . . . Guy 2: "Well I ain't never heard of one of those" Me: blank stare Guy 3 chimed in at this point, he seemed pretty sharp, started asking about the brand. I gave him the basic Buell rundown- been around ~20 years, hand made till 1995, Harley bought into them in the '90s, made in Wisconsin, sold through Harley dealers, etc. That seemed to hold them over, so I went back to finishing my lunch. Just before I left, one of them turns to me and says, "by the way, you have a headlight out."

You guys think it's bad there? Can you imagine trying to explain to know-nothing French people? I generally just say it's the sporting arm of HD, it's near enough. I find with the TT being so small people think it's a 250 trailie though, & they're astounded when I tell them it's a 1200 same as my M2. I love the double takes though as people are looking for a big ole Harley & finally realise the noise they're hearing is the Buell. |

How's this... Nice Ducati Looking at the back of the bike with a tag that reads 98 S1W, what year is it? and they are surprised it is 10 years old. What size is it? to which I reply 1203 and I've got your displacement covered in 1 cylinder. (Message edited by S1wmike on April 23, 2008) |

My neighbor came over and asked me what kind of a bike I had as I was taking off all my gear in my garage. I told him it was a Buell, and he told me that he thought it was a Kawasaki Concours. I looked at the airbox cover, looked back at him, and he said "Well, I never really looked too close at it." A Concours? |

After a particularly fun ride through my local twisty road... CBR1000 Rider "Wow... How much HP does that thing have? You were flying." Me "About half as much as yours." A duck 998S owner after a track day session "I left you room on the inside man..." Me "I know... It's just more fun to go around the outside." Jeep full of high school girls "Can we take you home?" Sometimes I regret saying no... |

I rode a lot with a good friend for a few years. It just so happened that he had a Boss Hoss. You know the fancy painted up chrome 406 cu in beast thing. I had my smooth new 2005 translucent Hero Blue City-X. Every where we park, the same spiel about the Hoss; 406 cu in, 425 hp, 1200 lbs, made in Tennessee, etc, etc. One day my buddy is off to the restroom on the top of New Found Gap, and as he is coming back to his bike a crowd of maybe ten riders have accumulated and headed towards his bike. He steps up and says "hello, its a......" then he noticed they all walked around his Hoss and right up to my Buell. It is "984 cc, made in America, yes HD makes Buell, yes Buell race kit, over 130 mph, etc". I had to LMAO at that one! My buddy was stunned! |

Got this 1 this morning in the parking lot at work: Dim Uninformed Man (DUM), "Is that the new Buell with the VROD engine in it?" Me, "No, it's the new Buell with the Rotax motor in it." DUM, “Are you sure that’s not a VROD engine?” Me, “Yes, I’m sure.” DUM, “What’s a Rotax?” Me, (Standing next to a Yamaha/SeaDoo/CanAm dealer) “It’s a company that makes motors.” DUM, “Well why didn’t they just use a VROD motor?” Me, “Well, to be honest, that motor started out as Buell’s, but got changed along the way to the VROD. I’m good with the Rotax.” DUM, “So it’s the new Buell then?” Me, (If he knows there is a new liquid cooled Buell, how can he not know more about it?) “Yes, it’s the new 1125R they introduced this year.” DUM, “Are you SURE it’s not a VROD motor?” Me, “Yes. See, there’s no chrome on it.” DUM, “Looks like a VROD to me.” Some people you just can’t reach. |

I had one guy say "a BULL, they had one of those at the Honda dealer and it kept falling over" (I assume it was an S2) Another guy, after I stopped on the M2 to inspect the bridge project he was on, said "Yeah, Buellamerican, I've heard of those" |

At the Summit Point track day this past Monday (in the rain), I thanked Bill Sink for the ART Basic course I attended back at Pocono East, and another Team ProMotion safety rider interjected; "So you're the guy on that Buell I was trying to catch." Don't know if she was joking or not, but I grinned the entire 4 hour ride home in that damned uncomfortable box truck |
