First Sportster (maybe...) in years worthy of the name and they are not even available in the US (yet). Sickens me. If it were not for the half assed wanna be XR750 styling, 1/2 digital display and terrible pipes at tickover I'd really be upset. Way to go HD. They even had one my all time favorites Parker on the stage. Ok, I am really ticked. |

Dont know who is getting them, corporate announced that there are no new shipments of Sportsters for May & June. (at least domestically) I hear there is a guy in Finland that has one. Searching for proof. NONE of my contacts in England have them in stock or sold or have seen them..... This is going to end up like the rope a dope Buell threw at me with their dirt bike... isnt it ? |

Ok after viewing it. Get a pre production copy out to DD in the kiwi sector will ya? I think he would do a better review and test for sure. I am going to have to build one if I want it arent I? G-d I am already doing the PROJECT MUELL. I have a 2003 XL883R in the garage as a donor. Well that solves the weight issue, the front brake issue( I would use the XB front with Buell perimeter braking) Wheels will end being Buell 5 stars. Stortz will be getting large portions of my paychecks for the indefinite future it seems. |

I hate to say it, but THAT'S the bike I was looking for when I bought my Ss. Simple, relaxed, but not a cruiser, with an air-cooled V-twin. Too little, too late. ~SM |

Vapor bike. I don't know why, but I like that name!? Someday I'll tell you a story that will make your sides split with laughter. Please save it for March of '09. Bye that time I should have stopped side splitting from the "2008 Presidential Campaign" story! |

Okay, HERE'S a crazy coincidence. I was looking at the local H-D/Buell dealership's page trying to find the parts dept. number (Mountain Creek H-D in Dalton GA), and look what I happened across:
This is a local technician, working on Court's "vapor bike"... isn't it? I gotta' find out more about this.... ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on April 23, 2008) (Message edited by Swordsman on April 23, 2008) |

Yup, storz, but not not the whole thing. That guy kept the stock rear wheel and belt drive... The storz kit will allow for a chain drive with a 180 18" wheel. The BUB pipes are neat though - always thought about them for my Sporty when I still had it. |

I confessed my eagerness nearely a year ago when they started "taking orders for delivery"? I stand ready to be embarrased. Wouldn't be the first time. |

They're on the way to dealers. . . . I am such a putz. I am headed to campus for the "Halter Top Holiday" and am going to sit on the great lawn and self-flagilate. This totally wrecks my record. . . . 20 years and now I've been wrong THREE times . . I'm fading fast.

I think it was all some big Machiavellian plan... Step 1: Court #@$$#$ off Harley corporate to the point they are spitting and speachless. Step 2: Court boldly pronounces the bike will never be shipped. The rest is automatic. Every resource at every Harley facility across the country was ordered to stop any and all work, and turn the vapor bike into reality. Big signs were painted over the entrances... "We Must Stop Court". It was touch and go for a bit, but finally enough Harley Davidson superdelegates finally committed right before the convention, and the bike went from concept to production in record time. The company, naturally, claimed it had been in development for a long time, in order to make sure the discrediting of Court was complete. Personally, I think Court planned the whole thing. He liked the bike, thought Harley needed it to start adapting to this new world they find themselves in, and figured it was the only way to get the bike to production. That was phase 1. Wait'll he starts phase 2.

I missed the 77-78 XLCR, and grew up watching the XR750s race; I really love the lines and flow of these bikes. I am really hoping that Milwaukee delivers the XR1200, I have only been waiting 30 years for it.... Anyone got a ship date off of H-D net? otherwise it is all just vapor, smoke, mirrors and amped caffiene dreams. |
