Is that the best anyone is doing? any thoughts that Buell may modify the engine in the next cycle of bikes that uses this engine to increase gas mileage?

There is an inverse relationship between the fun meter and MPG. Per the bike, my avg MPG is 28.

At 2200+ miles I'm getting an easy 35mpg. Granted it's pretty easy cruising but I'm still keeping the revs around 4500-5500. Throw in some spirited passing (Oh so much fun!!!). An occasional XXX and you have my 110 mile commute. Of it's all 2 lane twisty TN roads. It only straightens up when I cross the border to KY.

Speaking of that........ Time2Roll on home.

Just went on a ride with a bunch of Buellers yesterday into the mountains to the south, 420 miles roundtrip.

First tank of gas lasted 183.6 miles till the LIGHT came on.
When I got gas, it was at 194.3 miles and put in 4.6 gallons.
Averaging 36 on ODIS.

But I also got 6100 miles out of my first Corsa III on the rear.
Front's still fine at 6622 miles, I ride like a grandma.
Winter sand will be gone soon.

avg 30 - 32, I toasted front and rear by 1,962 miles, so I guess I don't ride for mileage...

No snow here, though...

30 mpg with Spirited riding. Figure it'll get better with more miles.

Im getting mid thirties now, with just under 1K miles on my bike. Ive found the mileage goes up when you spend more time cruising at 4k rpm than 3500 rpm.

I always see 30 mpg on my average. Is there a way to reset this. I drove several times back and forth to Austin and the whole trip it said I was getting 45 or better. But after several long trip it still shows 30 mpg, which is different then when I fill up and figure out the mileage. My math that I do every fill up shows me like 38 or better for the last 4 tanks. I only have 1500 miles on the bike, so I figured it would change by now.

My average is sitting at 25 on ODIS.
Per my calculations, it's up to about 28.
I watch the average from time to time, going from 40ish (cruising) to 12 (when i tromp on it)
Great times.

My average reads 30 also. Sort of monitored the real time feedback while running the highway to work today. Saw about 22-25 MPG while under hard acceleration, 31-37 cruising on flat ground or slight incline, and 39-46 on down slopes...

Up to breakin (600 Miles) mine showed 27. 600 miles after breakin - it shows 34. I reset it this AM - went for a "old lady ride" and it currently shows 42 (but that will change tomorrow).

Nice sunny days when I'm on curvy switchback roads in West Virginia it seems to get very poor mileage.

How does is know what state I'm riding in?

No seriously, my mileage just continues to climb. Though I just can't "travel" on the bike with out taking the back way home to wick it up, I'm up to 32 on the average per tank with 3k on the bike.

What Asbjorn(Doerman)said +1. I ride this bike like the reason it was designed. It IS a sportbike after all. I very seldom get concerned about mileage and if I want to tour there is always the M2. Enjoy it for what it is and stay safe. Bob

I reset the Avg mpg setting and rode home on the Interstate 26 miles.
70-85 mph I averaged 46 mpg.

His Avg is his last trip , our average (if not reset) is averaged from the first day we sat on our bike's , may be worth reseting once in a while .....

To reset the average fuel consumption measurement, press and hold the Toggle switch for two seconds while the average fuel consumption is displayed on the screen.

(taken from our manuals)

Shit, my secret's out.
I put the sew-ups from my Schwinn Paramount on Loretta - 130 psi... ; )

I'll go check, I put max recommended in when I left on my trip. 46R/32F
New back tire now tho.34F&R

Gotta remember next time I hit some twisties to drop 5 psi.

No gramma, just hard tires....

On the very few times that I have calculated my MPG it has been getting 28 to 30 MPG. I am confident that if I was to ride "normal" and not rev over 6000 rpm for a whole tank full that I could get an average of 35+MPG but I have no interest in trying. It is more fun getting a low number.

A dear friend of mine's philosophy is that the worst waste of fuel is people that bitch about their life and everything around them while operating a vehicle. The best use of fuel is a person getting a kick out of what they are driving.

He also told me that learning to be a welder makes you an excellent grinder.

And the last one is, too much power is never enough (he might have borrowed that one from Carroll Shelby though)

I don't care! I don't care! I don't care! The mileage sucks for a motorcycle but I didn't buy it for gas mileage, I bought it for the Powa! It's got LOT's of Powa! Love those third gear wheelies!

I now have about 1200 miles on mine and I get 32 at best with easy drivin. But I really don't drive that easy. SO normally 28- 29MPG. I thought it would get better with miles but I just got used to the power and started riding harder. I love this bike even with the minor glitches I've had. My buddies Busa doesn't seem so fast anymore.
