Since Buell doesn't seem to have a fix for my fuel boiling issue I am hoping to correct the problem by wrapping my headers. My neighbor has an EVO with wrapped headers and I can touch them while the car is running...I hope that this level of performance translates to the bike. Here are my questions:
1. Has anyone done this yet?
2. Any hints on the installation?
3. What wrap did you use?
4. Where did you get it?
5. Did you also apply the silicon hi-temp spray?

Thanks a million!

I have mine with it and it helped a bit. But I just wrapped as much as it was possible without removing the headers. Use water to put it on. Just get a bucket an drop the whole thing in there. I bought a 50 ft roll and risking it went ahead and cut it in half. Then got it really wet and tight. Hope this helps!

Auto zone sells the wrap or you can get it at any motorcycle parts online like J&P cycles, Dennis Kirk, etc.

also you could try heat material to put on the inside of the frame in between the cylinders and the frame.

I plan on wrapping my pipes but I am going to take them off to do this,

then if I have your problem I can get pieces of heat blockage material at Auto Zone.

I wrapped mine with a kit i bought from good old American Sport bike (http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/16104.html)

I wrapped as much as i could without removing the heads, just removed heat shield on header just be careful b/c those bolts are very easy to strip and also removed black shield by oil stick.

I started on the bottom side by muffler and i used duct tape to hold it on header while i wrapped it tight just have to deal with melting tape for 5 miles till it burns off but makes it come out much tighter.

I also got reflective heat tape and applied to inside of frame where i could

got the tape from http://www.partsamerica.com/productdetail.aspx?Mfr Code=DEI&MfrPartNumber=010408&CategoryCode=3638G

Ive noticed much improvement and frame is not getting nearly as hot so far.

Note to anyone following the link for the tape above. You gotta allow cookies and you gotta put in your zip code. Then you get the tape product page.

Interesting stuff:

I have something like looks just like that reflective tape stuck to the underside of my airbox base. Never thought to put it on the frame.

I got mine from somebody I know who had some scrap laying around. They work for a feeder plant for a big Japanese car company, who uses it on their cars.

It's holding up great!

Has anyone wrapped not just pipes, but the whole muffler too? I ask because I am thinking of doing it with a black wrap.
