My 1125 is stock 840 miles. Just had the first service done. I have what seems to be a stumble or drop in power around 4500rpm when xcelerating quickly. usually third gear or higher but has done it in all gears. Sometimes it is a very hard stumble followed by an immediate surge back to life. sometimes it is weak and feels like the belt is slipping. There is no instant rise or fall in RPM for me to believe it is slipping though. RPM stays pretty constant. It has the normal 3500rpm and below spit and sputter everyone else seems to have. I have learned how to smooth that out with the proper throttle and clutch action. I have searched the threads for prior postings on this issue but nothing seems to match this. I ride it daily and have no charging/decharging issues. It has been doing this for a while got worse after break in probably due to my snappy wrist. Thought it was just break in and didn't think to mention it to the dealer tech. Non of which have been to the 1125r tech classes. These guys at my dealer are great but I would like to have something to give them when I go in other than this thing is acting weird. I need to get this thing square so my brother riders and there rice rockets can just study my tail light and all its glory. Please help a fellow out? |

I have been noticing a stumble or lurch from mine when I first screw on the throttle, some times when shifting up. I think it's the gear-lash in the new transmission. With the straight-cut gears, there's more lash than the old Lump's helicals. I get about 20-30˚ of rear tire turn in first gear when on the rear-stand. Z |

i am hoping for some kind of fix for that slack, but i doubt i will see one. mine is enough to upset the bike when i roll on the gas going into a turn. then there is the clunk as it finally starts to move. i didnt think i would be down grading when i bought the 1125, but my xb's with the primary chain have no driveline lash. i get 2-2 1/2" of movement out of the tire when its in gear. my xb's only move MAYBE and inch. |

I was getting the stumble. I have not noticed it since removing the cable from the solenoid that connects to the throttle linkage for the EPA crap. |

it usually happens when I maintain at around 4000rpm then hit the throttle, wide open or just spirited when it gets right around 4500rpm the surge or whatever it is happens. It kind of reminds me of a bicycle chain binding when changing gears. I will probably just take it in to the dealer, just sucks cause this is my primary means of transport. I have done no modifications to the throttle body or elsewhere so thats not it. |

I have the same stumbling problem. Apparently, it is ECM related as Buell wants to re-program my ECM to address the issue. Not sure I want to have my bike down for at least a week...for a very intermittent problem. |

Fresno would it not just be a quick down load to the ecm, I also heard of this flash update and thought it was just a quick computer download but I might be wrong. |

I have the flash update. Not sure what it did or is. But I got it. I asked what it was several time and didn't get much of an answer on it. One guy told me it got rid of the rev limiter. But I am not sure that is correct. |

I was told the reflash would be available on DDT2 in a couple weeks. I removed the ECM from a bike I was working on and overnighted it to Buell. They sent it back the next day with the new reflash. It fixed the bikes altitude/hard starting issues. I'm not sure what they changed when it was re-programed. |

Jedipunk can anyone do this or do we have to wait for the dealers to do this, I need my bike so if I could just send it in and get a update would be easy for me or would it be just a update the techs at the dealership can do while waiting. Let me know what I should do. Mike |

My bike has been at the dealer for the last two weeks getting some hydraulic problems taken care of and also a fueling issue hopefully resolved. There has been mentioned of an updated map and it would require the ECM to be sent in to do this. I have not experienced the 4000 - 4500 rpm stumble, though I have had mine all but sign off while accelerating hard to get on the freeway twice. I just figured I did not get up to the bikes optimal temperature setting before flogging it. The dealer seams like they are really trying to get my bike running right, and in the mean time I am getting reacquainted with my XB12R again so it is no big deal for me. If it was my only transportation then that would be different. |

Baggermike, It's something the dealer has to do for you. I only sent it in because I had been working closely with one of the helpful guys at Buell over the phone. I had 20hrs into the bike trying different adjustments and getting value readings to diagnose the issue. I'll post when the new reflash is available at dealerships. I'm not sure how Buell is handling it. It may be for all 1125r's or it may just be for certain bikes. That's about the extent of my knowledge concerning the reflash. |

Thanks Jedipunk I thought so, My bike has been running really good and not having really any problems except for a little bit of surging sometimes, I will be watching for an update and so far have got nothing from Buell or my dealership. Mike |

Fresno would it not just be a quick down load to the ecm, They have to pull it and send it to BMC. I am figuring a week in the shop more or less. I am sure we will hear from those who get this re-flash. Feedback is a good thing. |

Fres, "They have to pull it and send it to BMC." Other than arriving at such an assumption derived from comments above, how do you know this? TRW, "One guy told me it got rid of the rev limiter. But I am not sure that is correct." I am sure that is dead wrong. |

We must be talking about two different flash updates. The one my bike has, was to be done at the dealer, until they determined I already had the flash. However they did do the update at the dealer for a parts guy there who has the 1125. So either this is something different or it is already available for you at your dealer. |

I don't know if I just got lucky or what guys. Maybe an updated ECM or whatever but I do not have any of the problems, yet, that many of you are having. My No. 292 with 420 miles on it. It pulls smoothly from 2500 if I do not grab a handful and just roll it on easily, and accelerates very hard from 4000 to 7500 without a hitch when I DO grab a handful. I hope it continues. No M2 down low but I'm already used to it. Just my $.02 worth, Bob |

The regional service manager was talking about a reflash when I picked mine up. Said it should be out about now. Was concentrating mostly on battery conservation, fans not running as long after shut down. |

Was concentrating mostly on battery conservation, fans not running as long after shut down. I heard this as a possibility as well. Great, trade one problem for another one. I thought that the electrical system is adequate, save if you have a bad component(s). If so, why doesn't Buell go after the bad components, rather than risk overheating an already HOT engine? |
