First, a quick refresher of when I first bought these boots: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/314875.html Now for an update: These boots have just passed the toughest torture test I can imagine for a pair of motorcycle boots. I am halfway through my MSF RiderCoach Prep course. I've spend essentially four straight days on my feet on the range wearing these boots, switching from coaching to "novice student on bike." On Saturday, after the class ended, I wore them to the annual AMA District 34 Awards Party and had them on for an additional four hours. I never even thought once about my feet or if they were even sore! Now THAT'S an accomplishment! I must say even I wasn't expecting them to be THIS comfortable. Definitely worth the money. I hope I never find myself giving them a crash test report, though. I finish up my RCP this weekend. Wish me luck! |

thanks for the update, i had my heart set on getting a pair of these but the break-in scared me away. how many miles do you estimate they got 'comfy' in? someday i'll grab a pair and maybe break them in over a few dirt rides. way more movement and flex. |

Did you get the cleated or wedged sole? http://www.aerostich.com/files/images/detailed/404 _3hd.jpg http://www.aerostich.com/files/images/detailed/400 _410_1a.jpg "Size Comparison: Combat Touring Boots (left), Combat Lites (right)." And does anyone know how these compare to my Sidi OnRoad Sympatex boots? I'm about due for new soles on my Sidi's. |

I have the cleated sole more for the "office appropriate" looking color than anything else. And I didn't use "miles" to break them in. At least, not "Riding Miles." I wore them every day for a week as my regular footwear... walking, driving, etc. Every night I'd wipe them down with a light application of Neatsfoot oil. By the end of that week they were comfortable and soft enough for easy shifting and braking on both of my bikes. These boots are based more on SIDI's off-road model line than their on-road models. It actually makes them more flexible and comfortable for on and off the bike than a pure on-road design. |
