Sounds like some dealer didn't get the memo about how to check and fill the oil |

Probably has too much oil in it. The Oil Check Procedure is very different from Buell/HD norm. See giant red thread about Oil Check. You're gonna love this bike and your buddies are going to drool. Zack |

I got it at North country in Augusta. i live 20 minutes from Central Maine, but i had poor experience with them with my S3. I also checked the oil and it was ok. i don't think that is the issue. Thanks for any help!! |

Bartman1... what procedure did you use to check the oil? The wrong one that is in your manual, or the right one that is... well... hard to find if you are not on this site... > |

Sadly, I used the correct one... I look at this site everyday, waiting to get it... sucks, it was running out of her... |

The oil lines to the oil cooler are the only external ones I've seen. Both ends use some kind of quick-connect fitting I've never used or seen before. Hopefully one of those quick-connects didn't lock, causing your leak. Zack |

Sorry to hear that Bart, hope its something easy. I seem to remember an early XB or two occasionally having those cooler fittings needing tightening after a few thermal cycles. And having had lots of buells (and kawasakis and yamahas and suzukis) apart, and put them back together, being *really* careful and in no hurry... its amazing how many gaskets I have nicked or folded. So stuff happens.... |

You may have right of refusal on your purchase in Maine if you don't want it they have to take it back no questions asked but you would have to look it up they will not volenteer that info |

I feel sorry for the 95% of the 1125r owners that don't frequent this site. BMC should have sent out a copy of the bulletin to ALL 1125r owners citing the correct oil level check procedure. I mean, it's ONLY the motor oil we are talking about here, nothing important. |

They said yes..... Heck the group here is far smarter than the average owners and more than OK in the DIY stuff, but give the owners a fighting chance. |

i call the dealer, heartbroken. they are coming to get it today and assured me they will fix it... Bartman, If it's any consolation, I know EXACTLY how you feel right now. I took delivery of an XT yesterday after having been waiting for almost 3 months. Within two hours and 40 miles of ownership, I get the "check engine light" and now the dealer is telling me it'll be at least Tuesday before they'll have it back to me (replacing oxygen sensor). On the other hand, I've owned 3 Buells previously so I know that once I get it back, that sick feeling will quickly be forgotten. I have no doubt you'll feel the same. The 1125 is an awesome bike. |

I had some oil leaking out of the oil filter cap (noticed around 450 miles), although no dripping. The new oil level check procedure showed that there was way too much oil in the engine. I drained it down to the right level (used a suction tool that goes into the dipstick hole), tightened some bolts and now there's no oily residue around... I think it's a general principal of the Universe... dorky dealers always overfill engines with oil. It was this way with every vehicle I've owned. so, i called the dealer last night a 4:30 because I had not heard anything since they took it back on Friday (bought it on thursday...) come to find out, they don't even have a service manual!! I can't beleive this, how can you sell product that you have 0 info about?? they tell me that they cannot touch it because it's a "protected" new model and they need to deal straight with Buell... Does anyone have Erik Buell's cell #???:-( just what I need a dealer that will fix my bike by phone to Wis when it is convient for everyone... Except me... My new bike that is being taken apart by guys who don't know what they are looking at with no book... simply awsome.... love hearing everyone's thoughts. thanks!!!! Bartman |

The dealer can get a ton of info on HD-Net. I have seen two revs of a beginning service manual, rough drafts, one in Jan and one in Feb. Have seen nothing since, but hear that the Manual is out in sections, in part, on HD-Net now. Tentative release date for manual - soon. The dealer can talk to several techs also, that were on the release team. There's a lot of info, if they'll look. I'd give Buell customer service a call, get a case # and follow thru them AND the dealership. Zack |

I think I remember my dealership stating that they now have a service manual for the 1125R. One of their techs did just return from 1125R-specific training. They've had my bike since April 5th working on several things (snapped belt, new rear tire & brake pads, check front rotor for warping & new front tire to match - Metzler Z6s). |

If they tell you that they can not get information, drop me a note. |

>>>You may have right of refusal on your purchase in Maine There is no such concept as "right of refusal". There is a "right of rescission" that applies to various installment contracts such as some new car sales, most home improvements and so forth. You'll know if Maine has one because if there is you would not have been allowed possession of the bike during that period you were "considering" if you wanted to make the purchase. Alot of stuff going on for 10 days of ownership...is there a story behind it (that you care to share?) You misread that. I've owned the bike since Jan 15th 2008... It's been in the shop since April 5th. Bike has 5,300 miles on it. They do not. They have 4 chapters that cover everything expected in the first several thousands miles and they have access to information via a group of dedicated service techs fluent in the 1125R. If they tell you that they can not get information, drop me a note. That's probably what they said/meant. Thanks for the offer. I'll do that if necessary. |

Hello everyone, So they are giving me the other bike they had in the showroom. I guess I picked wrong. They took that one out for 25 miles and no leaks! So I am going down on Friday to change paperwork. all I know it the other one has oil coming out of the air box and they are sending it back to Wis... I'm happy, kind of a pain but there is still snow on the ground so I' m not missing much. I feel better getting a new bike that has not had a mechinical failure at 8 miles... thanks to everyone for their imput. Bartman |

So Chameleon, did they find warping of the front rotor? I'm just over 2100 miles and I've just started to notice some grabbing that feels like the rotor could be warped... |

They haven't even started on the bike yet... They're backed up on service. It was originally scheduled for 4/24, but since the parts are all in, they will try to fit it in this week and said it should be done by Saturday. It really sucks being without my bike so long. At least I have my wife's V-Rod to ride, otherwise I'd surely go insane. I strongly recommend that you get yours checked out ASAP. |
