i am in the middle of a few upgrades to my stock 2003 XB9S. i am getting: K&N filter & possibly a D&D slip-on. before i spend over $500 on the slip-on i would like to know that my bike will still run properly. the local Buell dealer couldn't find an ECM for a 2003 and they said that my bike 'should' run fine without and upgraded ECM. ANY help would be greatly appreciated! THANKS! paulie |

Pualie Checkout ECMSPY I believe you will be able to adjust your ECM and do TPS resets. Check it out here in BadWeb or UKBEG or BDU. Joe |

It will run ok. But what are you doing is making the bike better able to handle more air. So it should be fed more fuel. With a stock ECM once you leave "closed loop" running off the O2 sensor, it is likely you will be running lean, and you could overheat. I don't know where it changes from closed to open, somewhere around 4500 rpm or so.... What I'm really saying is if you are just casually riding, you will be fine. If you ride hard (high rpms, high speed) you will definatly want to consider either getting your ECM re-tunned or finding a Race ECM. Which I think there was 1 or 2 of them on the classifieds here recently. |

Bad_karma: i checked ECMSPY out and my tiny, overworked brain almost exploded. i will keep looking for a race ECM, thanks. Mnbueller: i think i have a line on an ECM from here, THANK-YOU! i would prefer to have it in as i would like to be able to wind up my beast, should i feel the need. the local HD (Buell) shop doesn't really know enough about them to offer me any assistance. they told me to pipe it, do the filter then ride it and see if runs OK. i'd prefer to take the time, spend the money and have it done properly: Race ECM + K&N + Pipe = HAPPY XB9S |
