I've thought about doing the same thing. Unless Pingel has begun making a valve for buells you have to also get the adapter that they do make. But it's hard to find...I've been looking for one for a while. |

How "built" does one of these motors need to be that they would require the additional flow of a Pingel valve? When does the stock petcock start falling short? I used to have one on my M2, but after 2 years a leak developed in the sealing area around the adapter. I proceeded to strip the brass "nuts" that are sunk into the tank when I tried to re-install the valve, which required me to scrap the tank and get a new one. I would like to re-install it on my new tank but don't know if I would see any benefit over the stock petcock. Don't want to risk screwing up another tank if there is no potential benefit. BTW - you can order Pingel valves straight from their customer service dept - look on their website for the phone #. You will have to wallow out the hole that the stock petcock comes out of, since the Pingel valve screen is about twice the diameter of the stocker. |

The people I've heard who "need" a Pingel are usually running dry on the back side of some track's straightaway. High speed high rpm wide open throttle like at Bonneville, or running across South Dakota and Montana on the freeway could do it too ( ). Someone on the site here did an approximate flow study comparing the flow rate of the stock petcock against the flow rate of the Pingel petcock. I don't know if it is still on the site or if it was posted before the "great board crash" where we lost some archives once several years ago. http://www.pingelonline.com/ http://www.pingelonline.com/powerflo_application_f rames.htm
