Does anyone know if you have to recalibrate your speedo if you install one of these? Also, how do you folks with this pulley size like it? I'm looking for a little extra out of the hole and figure that this will help me out. Thanks. |

Where is your speedo driven from, front wheel or the electronic sensor on rear of engine? If it is front wheel--ie you have a speedo cable--no recalibrate. I have one but also have the Baker 6 speed so I did not loose any on top,but love the pull down low. |

I run the 26 tooth sprocket. I never bothered to recalibrate the speedo. I found that at when it says 60, I am doing 55. So in my head I am going faster then the cop's radar gun clocks me at. Saves on tickets I guess. |

My bike is a 97' Cyclone. I want to say that it's read off the front tire, but I'm not near it right now and can't verify that. |

No problem for te 1997 Model year ... From 1998-2002, all "TUBE FRAME" BUELLs came with a 27T belt sprocket, which was the FACTORY's way of getting cheap TORQUE ... (Message edited by buellistic on April 09, 2008) |

Are you sure about all tubers from 98-02 having 26T? I have a 2000 and mine has 27T stamped right on it, I even counted the teeth. I thought 27 and 61 were stock. |

Yeah, I kinda thought the same thing. The front pulley on my bike right now came from a 2002 cyclone and it is also a 27 tooth... |

for about the same money as buying a front sprocket, you can buy an 883 sportster primary sprocket and chain...then you dont have to worry about your speedo.. a bit more work, but you can change the oil pump gear while you are at it.. |

i stand corrected.... the xb9 and the xb12 have the different primaries and according nallin racing, the smaller primary can be used on the tubers... |

the difference in older sportys " not sure of new ones" was 883 came with 27/61 and the 1200 came with 29/61.. my s2t came with a 29 tooth pulley that the splines started giving way on.. currently i run a 27 tooth on her.. it help keep it a little more in the rev range at the speed i ride. |

i lowered the gear ratio on all my harleys by changing the primary comp gears....its the biggest bang for the buck you can make in performance....i ride in the mountains a lot and the gear is really nice coming out of the curves...on my bmw's i changed the entire rear end... same deal, big bang in performance...ive never changed the front pulley, but baker drivetrain made a good one that i was going to put on my 07 harleys...harley changed the primaries in 07 on their twin cam motors and you cant do the old school trick with the comp gear anymore.... |

Both my 96 S1 and 99 S3 came with 27/61. I have tried several combinations and have settled on 26/55 for the S1 and 27/55 for the S3. Leaning toward the shorter primary gearing for the S1. What is the expected increase in RPMs at 60? Joe |

Ya know, I've got an issue of Battle2win around here somewhere that has gear ratios and speed/rpm's in it. When I find it, I'll post it for everyone's GeeWhiz file. |
