Slow is the key to starting. I would 20 min. on the treadmill Mon,Wed.& Fri. and kept bumping up the amount of time walking. I am up to 1 hour every night with some weights thrown in on Mon,Tue,Thur & Fri. The weight is starting to come off and the recovery time from the work outs is getting shorter. Slow and steady wins the Pink Thong of Inspiration! |

LMAO I think we started something... It is like weight watchers with bikes... biker diet meals, Breakfast, Black coffee, a muffin, 1 shoe lace rubbed on bacon or instant oatmeal and cold water Lunch light french frys, 25% less trans fat low grease cheese burger, ( no meat )} non alcohol lite beer Dinner 1/2 baked potato, 4oz sirloin extremely well done, Okra, and twinke papers to smell. Only 120$ in better shops now, next to the biker hair care products

WHAT???? mmmmmm.....you want to complicate this eh? I weighed this morning with T shirt, shorts, and no coinage(spent it all for MBV). 239 lbs. I'd say we got a pretty even start and being of an equal elder age, I want you to know the bet will be off if one of us dies. Extreme dehydration brought on by death would not be fair..... unless we checked out at nearly the same time. I would have to look into cremation to win this particular bet! I can see it now...My ashes weigh less than your ashes! |

City, I feel it too. I started last Christmas at just over two-fiddy and made it to the 235 - 236 plateau, next thing I know I'm back to 242. I like cabbage soup, as it works wonders for many parts of the body. My wife won't make it any more because she cannot make it in small batches. We bought a new refrigerator last year and for the past six weeks we have been working with the repair guys and GE to make it function(you think Buell CS and HD are hard to deal with). You cannot imagine how bad cabbage soup smells when it goes bad!to the power of ten. |

so i guess you and vern are identical butt brothers. still maintaining under the 170 mark in the morning. eat a bowl of cereal in the morning for the carbs. have some turkey with cheese rolled up in it for the protein. pick all day long on veggies, yogurt, dried fruit, real fruit and water. not to mention some green tea in the morning and evening. try and walk about an hr a day along with about 7 set of ten inverted sit up's with a 30 lb dumb bell then some regular workout with the dumb bells and finish it off with some squats and some push ups. the gut ain't going away easy but i'm doing it by myself. that's my story and i'm sticking with it. |

Hope it's not too late to join the thread. After meeting Oldog last weekend, he persuaded me to chime in. Great meeting you Jim! Reading this thread, plus some occasional ribbing from my wife, helped me get off my butt and start exercising again. I started six weeks ago and have now lost 11 lbs., all from the gut. Feeling much better. I started out at 180, but still have about 4 more to go to reach the goal of 165. I'm also 5'8. I'm pretty sure the last 4 will be real tough. Still having problems with the hamstrings cramping up with rides over 200 miles on the XB. Probably not enough water. Keep at it guys, and good luck! |
