am in the process of changing my shock to an ebay post recall. got the mount with it. now i have everything removed and notice the new mount is NOT threaded like the original. originally the long bolts go thru the exhaust hanger , motor , then into the shock mount. was there a change in mounting with the recall? i'm seeming screwed...was it changed to a nut/bolt mounting with the recall? |

I don't recall either old or new being threaded where the two big bolts run through. One comes from the left, the other from the right, nuts on both. Proof? Figure 2: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/B024B-263571.pdf |

Both of mine were the same way(pre recall) I too bought a recall shock/bracket off ebay and my new bracket was not threaded. I wasn't expecting this so I had to order new bolts. |

My S1 and S3 don't have threaded mounts, long bolt and nuts. Joe |

My X1 has threaded plate with lock nuts that barely fit behind the engine castings. This is odd. I would have imagined they were all the same as each other. |

The recall kit includes new bolts, so I'd say that indicates a possibility for either. My crusty grey-matter is obviously not all-encompassing! |

project complete. thanks to all. and may i add--- not the easiest job in my "open air garage" LoL had some frustration breaks, and a long fought wresting match with the regulator. learned a lot, and hope i dont have to do it again any time soon. |

I just did an S3 over the weeekend. The original shock mount was threaded, the new one in the recall kit for the shorter shock is not. The top bolt goes in from the left side, the bottom from the right. The top nut and washer are real fun to get in place behind the oil filter casting.. Brad |
