Does anyone know what solvent will bond the saddlebag inners? I called customer service and was told that for legal reasons, they could not tell me. My right inner cracked (apparently due to vibration) and a new one @ the stealer is >$350. Alternately, any suggestions, (JB weld, epoxy, glass cloth…) Thanx | ||

Oz: Have you tried going to your Dealer and asking them to make a warrenty claim? I went through 2 sets of inner bags in 99' and 00' and Buell ended up doing a "Good Faith" on the second set (1st set was regular warranty). It can't hurt to try. Oz666...mine were replaced out of warranty via "goodwill" by Buell. They covered the parts 100%...I just installed 'em. Buell Rocks!!! DAve | ||

Thanks guys, I kind of thought it should be warranty too, but my dealer said no and so did customer service (`98 S3T). Think I should be a little more "aggressive"? And with who, the stealer or BCS? | ||

Folks, I received the Givi windscreen. Took 6 days to arrive. Shipped from Italy. Ordered the blue color on the chance that it might match the M2. It is close enough that my color-deficient eyes cannot tell a difference. Installation was a snap and after a couple of rides to adjust the angle, everything is fine. Looks good on the bike. Offers more protection to the chest and neck area. Reduces wind noise. Now, I am considereing removing the stock speedo since I quit using it after it bit the big green weenie for the fourth time. Will fabricate a small panel to install a speedo/trip computer, a compass and a thermometer. A toggle switch for electric grips, a bank of idiot lights and so on. Will post some pix later. Anybody know the diffeence between and s2 and s3 faring??? actuall diference like mounting points, or ???? let me know and thanks Roger | ||

Roger, More differences than I could possibly name here (okay, I'm just lazy). The biggest difference is the way the fairings mount. There are actual "frame extensions" that mount the fairing bracket on the S2. There is also a size & shape differences. In other words, the S2 fairing will only mount on an S2 bike. The S3 fairing can definately mount to the M2 & possibley the X1 (?) | ||

But with some creative welding and bending you could probably mount the S3 or S2 plastic onto the S2 or S3 fairing bracketry/mount. Note: While I did recently have an S3 mounting bracket and while I do have an S2, I never compared the two against each other. MikeJ I probably owe you 2 cents for all that info.  | ||

Howdy folks, I have a general statement/question... I used to call carbon fiber "Glorified Fiberglass". I let the parts guy and some government misslebuilders convince me otherwise, but six months or so after putting a CF fly screen on by bike the finish began clouding up. I did to wax it when I washed the bike so I cleaned it with some soap and water thinking maybe the waxt was building up - the cloudiness went away when the screen was wet so I tried spraying some clearcoat but then it looked worse. Is this stuff UV sensative? I put the race air cleaner on last month and just got a CF inner fender and am afraid they are going to end up looking the same - which is terrible. Any suggestions would be appreciated!  | ||

My CF intake is as shiny and pretty as when it was new. You may have used a cleaning sovent or abrasive that reacted with the resin. | ||

No abrasives, but the pressure wash may have caused some delamination (?) I guess I'll just use the hose at home from now on and see if that keeps things right... Thanks! | ||

Alright guys, I've got a new XB9R and I'd like to have it painted this winter...not sure which way I'm going to go, either completely black (the -S pisses me off, I KNEW they'd do something like that after I got my 'bolt) or irridescent like the XB9R helmet that I got (green/purple). Since this bike is Surlyn, anything special that I should know before shopping around to find someone to do this for me? No way I'm going to try it myself. Bryan | ||

It looks a lot better than the similar item I recently got from Adrenalin Moto in the uk. That is solid alloy, no predrilled holes for anything, and no protection for the lighting electrics. (wish I'd found this site sooner!) Bonzo  | ||

Price of the kit was $125. Installation went very smooth with a couple of exceptions: (1) The screw holes to attach the turn indicators are very small. I think they are actually pilot holes and need to be drilled out. I used a 5/16 bit which was a little large. A 1/4 is probably just right. (2) The rear taillight cover fits very tight and is rubbing on the underside of the tail section. I don't remember the fit with the stock setup, but I don't think it was such a tight fit. I'm going to loosen things up and see if I can make an adjustment. Overall I'm very happy with the look and fit  | ||

I've been eyeing that plate kit at the HD of SLC. I've been trying to talk them into knocking the price down to $100 (it's been there a while but they won't bite). They are asking $140 for it, looks pretty clean, cost is about the same after shipping I suppose, maybe I'll break down and buy it. Since I chopped my fender off my back gets wet when it rains, luckily the wife has not been with me in the rain else I'd be in all sorts of trouble -this thing angles out a bit so will hopefully alleviate that problem. I'd like to take my bike apart this winter and paint the frame and wheels Nuclear Blue. Does anybody know the paint code? I've heard this colour is "Top Secret" and Buell won't release it. Is that true? Bob | ||

BuellBob, You won't find a paint code as it's powder coating. You could send your frame and wheels to Classic Coatings and have them powder coat them the REAL DEAL!
