Just wondering if anyone's used dye to make the orange part of the Uly seat black to match the front? Any recommendations? Just trying to figure out options other than buying a second seat if the time comes... |

I agree with the other two, trade with someone with an all black seat. If you want, I will pay one way, you pay one way. |

I happen to know of a black 06 low seat that needs a new home.... |

I have a stock height 06 orange seat in excellent condition. It was a dealership take off is what I am told. I would be up for a swap for an all black stock height (not low) height seat. prefer 06 but open to all years. (Message edited by lost_in_ohio on March 31, 2008) |

To get back to the original question...yes you can dye vinyl. I dyed my barricade orange seat with SEM vinyl dye (look at my profile picture), which can be found at your auto paint store.
It holds up very well, but you may need to retreat it at some point. |

Thanks for the info...putting pieces of the puzzle together just in case I end up adopting a new ride ;) I like the orange bike but not a fan of the orange seat - the triple tail stains it real easy. |

Max that seat turned out fantastic. Of course I really like the color of your bike. |

Max - how do you like the ZG windscreen? Do you notice any "white noise" increase from the taller screen like with the Buell tall screen? I liked the reduced wind push from the taller one, but I like the stocker for its quiet factor... Great looking bike, by the way. Thinking if I get the one I'm looking at, I'll pull the bag pieces off as well and paint them barricade orange just to tie it all together |

Rat; I had the bag inserts on my Uly painted to match the bodywork. It really looks good. The painter had a bitch of a time matching the Barricade Orange, but he got it right, and he did a nice job. |

I would be happy to post some pictures, but every time I try, I run into problems. When it comes to being Computer Literate, I'm not quite up to Hooked on Phonics. |

Crusty - I've had good luck just using windows picture and fax viewer. If you right click your picture filename, you'll get a menu. Select properties and see how big it is. Then open it, and select "save as". Use the same name, but for file type pick GIF. Once it's saved go thru the properties bit again, and it should be a small enough file to post. GIFs store less data than jpegs but still look OK. |

For managing your pictures, I highly recommend going here and installing "Image Resizer" You'll see the .exe file for download on the right side of the screen. It's part of "Microsoft PowerToys." Once it's installed, you can right-click on the image and a "Resize Pictures" option will be in the drop down menu. Select "Resize Pictures" and then you can select "Small," Medium," or "Large." Or, you can click on "Advanced," choose "Custom" and specify the size. Don't quote me, but I think if you use BadWeb to host the photo, they limit the picture to 800 X 600. You can enter those parameters in the "Custom" field. Then use the codes here to link the photo to your post. That's all it takes. You should be all set! Tipsy |

I tried. I installed "Image Resizer", and set the "Custom" size to 800X600. It's still too big. I surrender. You guys will just have to go to Homecoming if you want to see my bike. |

Thank you Tipsy. I had to resize to 700x525, but now they fit. I appreciate the assistance. Now I can (sometimes) post pictures on Badweb. Now, if I could just learn how to type with more than one finger... |

Hey...I still type with one finger (on each hand). I just do it really fast! Glad to help Tipsy |

If all else fails, email them to me or use photobucket Looks good Crusty, to bad the extra orange reduces top speed, hence why the space shuttle ejects the damn orange gas tank on the way up |

That looks great Crusty...the bags should come that way (color matched) from the factory! |

Actually, I got the idea from your bike. The bag inserts looked so much better painted red, that I felt mine would look better if they were color matched. I'm happy with the result. |

I would be happy to post some pictures, but every time I try, I run into problems. Hi Crusty, if you want a neat, simple and free photo editing programme, look no further than Irfanview. It really is pretty damn good!!! http://www.irfanview.com/ |

When posting photographs you will want to use jpg NOT gif. gif can only handle 256 colors or less and you will get undesirable dithering and color loss. You will get loss with jpg but the results are much more acceptable. Same image compared below (Both are ~57 kb). The first is a jpg the second is a gif. JPG
GIF
BTW, your bike looks great Crusty. (Message edited by 08Uly on April 04, 2008) |
