Yeah boys....that "American" made 1125R has the words "Made in China" proudly displayed on the wheels....turned me off completely. And don't lecture me on the argument about cost, global market BS...heard it don't believe it. Oh, I saw an exact copy of the engine in another bike, some goofy three wheeled snowmobile look a like thing.

'tis true.

Also 'tis true that Levis are South American pants - been decades since they were "American."

If that's a determining criteria in your motorcycle selection, don't buy one.

Heck, check the electronics, other systems.

...your point is?

Same wheels as been used on the XB's since '03......

NOT an exact copy of the engine, it may have been a Rotax engine but it is not the same design as the Buell Rotax engine.

If you're not willing to except the FACT that we live in a Global Market then best you build a cabin somewhere in a remote location and live off the land... I don't like it either but that's the world we live in.

I bought a Yankees hat at the game last night . . . Made in China.

I was at the Chinese Embassy yesterday photographing the protests and the blood all over the wall.

China's in for some real lessons with the upcoming Olympics.

I kept the hat. I figured if the pitcher was imported from China, why not the hat.

Bull shit they are. That'd require someone holding them accountable for something. When was the last time you really saw that happening.

Hey wait . . I see OPPORTUNITY.

They need CHANGE right? How about if they could get CHANGE and HOPE at the same time!

This could work out . . . . we send Obama to China. We send Hillary, seasoned in warding off sniper fire, as his protective detail.

You see. . . there is a silver cloud in every lining!

My point? Buell plays heavily on the so called fact that his bikes are an "American Sports Bike". In reality they are a multi-national collection of parts semi assembled in the US.

And I am offended that he thinks I/we the buying public are so stupid as to believe it to be. I have a rule, if it "claims to be American Made" and it has the phrase "Made in China" on it I don't buy it...false advertising. If he would just say.."Made by the out sourced lowest bidder this month" I'd be all over it and have one in my garage.

The 1125R is a great bike, a super bike...but it took foreign engineers and manufactures to produce it. I'm sure some art work was done here in the US, we're good at that....fluff stuff.

That's marketing for ya.

'Made' is now synonymous with 'assembled', and getting pretty close to 'thought of by a U.S. citizen'.

Hey, as long as it's made on earth, doesn't use child labor, or tech support out of India, I'm probably ok with it.

>>>PS: I knew this would stir the pot ;)

It does about 3 times a year when it gets brought up. Generally the person (it'd be you in this case) gets asked to explain why they are using a television made in China (there haven't been American made TV's in years) and then we go through the Levi's and t-shirts (the last real t-shirt company closed down 8 or 10 years ago).

Then we get to the point where I, who build power plants, point out that nearly all the generators (you live in the Denver area, right?) come from Hyudai in Korea or one of the Chinese firms.

Sometimes, just to keep the pot stirred, I post the photo of a turbine I installed on the last job . . It was about a $17,000,000 part with MADE IN CHINA on the side.

Since you have elected to leave global ecomomies out of this a guy with a degree in Economics (like me) is dis armed.

My wife, CFO of a large Hedge Fund, makes her living by trading and speculating on various currencies all day so she'd be out too.

Anyway . . .

The Buell is an EXCELLENT motorcycle and your statement about "semi assembled in the US" is rediculous.

Anyway . . . keep reading.

Keep on smiling.

Define "made"....

If your parents were in Italy on vacation when you were conceived, are you made in Italy or in the US.
And fish caught in international water. Is it a US fish or from somewhere else...

Just smiling right back at ya

Court, you sound like you have half a brain. Prove me wrong that the phrase.."semi-assembled in the US" is NOT true. The engine is not, the shocks are not etc... Thus, "semi" applies completely.

J - You know, this is just one of the times I just have to say "it's OK to get off our team". I see you have an X1. Care to comment on it parts origin? But some how the same elves put it together in the same town in WI. But guess what, it has a significant foreign content also. Didn't stop you last time.
Go piss on the Honda board, they've got one like this right?

Well, if you changed that to "semi-made in the US" or "semi-produced in the US" you would be correct. But, last time I checked, the bikes are ASSEMBLED in the US, regardless of where the various individual parts are made or produced, whatever verbage you want to use.

You are not as smart as you think you are. Stupid people who think they are smart are more annoying than stupid people who know they are.....

This thread is USELESS

YOU, I mean MOST of us here within this USA over the last thirty plus years have made in china, possible.

Or by whinning of the price of things, chosen.

Don't bitch about the bed you part made. Sleep in it and if uncomfortable, help change it.

I wonder if you purchased toys for your kid's xmas last year all made in USA.

Bullshit...

And don't try to bullshit a bullshitter!

This is the American Way, as YOU helped make it that way.

Whine elsewhere...or better yet, go to work and make something in the USA worth proud of being sold on a global level instead of bitching about why you have nothing better to do than sit on your ass and talk out your A$$!

KMbuell, hey pal I PAID my dues supporting Eric Buell by buying a very expensive X1. This includes the MASSIVE amounts of problems I had, constant failures and eventual engineering corrections that I made and have passed on to other Buell owners.

If it weren't for we Buell pioneers (and I include all of us here) the 1125R never would have made it. I still hold true to the idea of an American Made Sport Bike one day, I just don't believe this is it. And I'll follow up with "there probably never will be."

So unless you've walked a mile (and miles and miles) in my shoes clam up. Just kidding buddy...its all good fun.

Rage on fellow posters and trolls like me!
