I have been looking and looking for a update or a ride back to back comparison for this bike..but every month it is washed aside...I would think that this bike being so radical for Buell would has some long term review or a side by side review..or a update on the real bike..not a preproduction model....what gives?

Does the magazines think this is a lemon of all lemons...or is Buell not sending any bikes for them to review?

I would think that Buell would really want some magazines to get this bike and give it a real review....but than again maybe Buell doesnt want to see is get trashed in the magazines....

Buell got their info out there early with the pre-production bikes. IMHO, most of that feedback was positive, and the negative was largely qualified.

I've been hoping that they would get a few months of production under their belt before making these bikes available for full test. There are no magazines in Buell's pocket, so to speak, and some who would look for any excuse to bash the bike...e.g., "sometimes I can't see the high beam indicator is bright light (whine). When was the last time you rode a Japanese bike with such egregious inattention to detail!!!? Unforgiveable."

Having said that, I still suspect that testers have probably received their production bikes to evaluate. Pray for justice... ;)

I think Buell is to busy getting the bikes that are available to those that have purchased them at dealers, and to the dealers that have orders for bikes. When some surplus exists, I'm sure the magazines are next. Brian

Priceless.

Okay . . let's ignore the fact that two of the major press events don't happen until next month . . . and go on your assumption.

If you were the grand exalted head omniscient chief of marketing at Buell how would you go about keeping magazines from trashing your bike?

Precisely. The one and only way.

You meet with those in engineering and design. The better the bike, the better the review.

What is out there has been positive. EVERYONE loves the engine and the handling. The only negatives I have seen are on small things or the aesthetics.

Rider magazine has picked MOTY already and will announce May 7th according to the latest issue I got in the mail.

The list of candidates included the 1125R and the XB12XT, so I would think they've had access to both already.

i agree it is a bit overdue for a mag comparision on a production bike. and i dont think its cause buell is affraid of getting bashed

i think motorcyclist said something to the effect of
'if this bike doesnt get nominated it'll beat the door down' or something similar that pretty much said 'this bike is badass'

the only complaints were preproduction bikes with the foot thing. thats all that was really said about it.
they love it, if they didnt it wouldnt have been on the cover of the big mags when it came out.

I believe that Buell is still debugging the few remaining issues since release and are making damn sure that everyone involved is knodding yes, it is now ready to be put under that "knife" so to speak...just a thought.

That is not a bad thing either...just good business sense.

The Ducati 1098 won MOTY last year. And while it was no gixxer beater in terms of straight line performance, It did bring the company closer to liter bikes as a whole in terms of pricing. The bike is also more powerful than the bike it replaced, for half the price. If Ducati can win on those grounds, Buell has a chance as it has done something similar with the 1125R. The question is does this 1125R bring something to market that is new, innovative and within the value realm of its competitors? I think so.

Not to leave out the founding father's sheer determination to give us what we all asked for, the Helicon married to his chassis, his way.

For Buell to have pulled off the 1125r, as is and on the 25th anniversary, well, I can't imagine the effort that it took. Well done...now get that serv manual done too! : )

I switched over from 20 plus years of jap bikes only because of this machine. My hat is off to the Buell crowd for making this bike a reality.

For something this new and this unique to have so few of issues to render perfect...is an engineering amazement.

It has been a long time since this country has played on this level with the world and it is nice to witness and be a part of.

MOTY? In my book yes. To the rags or those that do not own one...why would I care? To a potential buyer of an 11? DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ! : ) RIDE ONE & YOU MOST LIKELY WILL BUY ONE!

Exactly, I was sold after a test ride. I had a 2005 XB12R and traded it in for the 1125R. Just like when the officer ask to see your license and grabs a hold of it, he sees with his hands. You too have to see with your hands when you hold on. Well put, Slypiranna.

The UK's Bike magazine will apparently be re-evaluating the 1125r in a forthcoming issue. I thought they seemed pretty evenhanded with the pre-production model. They seem anxious to get a second look at it now that it has been "fine-tuned".

I read that in BIKE also. They said that Buell test riders were running the 1125r against 1098s. I wonder how it did down the straights vs that bike. Hell, I will be able to tell you on April 7. I will be going to a ducati track day on the 1125r. These two bikes are close enough that it all comes down to the rider in the end as always. I love the 1098! But I love my Buell more because it can do it all!

The UK's Bike magazine will apparently be re-evaluating the 1125r in a forthcoming issue.

Both MCN & Performance Bike magazine have had reviews of the 're-launched' 1125R recently from Spain. Both were luke warm reviews once again unfortunately. PB mentioned some bikes had problems with front brakes on the track in Spain, but this isn't mentioned elsewhere. I know the PB tester personally and don't think he is the sort of jopurnalist to make things up, so I suspect more than a grain of truth there.

Unfortunately, the 1125R review is in the same issue as the launch test of the KTM RC8, which is universally loved by every magazine and publication that has ridden it so far. I have yet to read a test of the RC8 that has ANY major criticism at all. The only faults reported so far have been 'fluffy' fueling at low revs, which is apparently sorted on the production bikes anyway.

Buell have released a great bike with the 1125R, but they have done so at the same time as some other great bikes, so the competition is very hot. Given the initial bad publicity of the 1125R over here I think Buell have a hill to climb.

MOTY in Europe will undoubtedly be a two horse race between the 848 and the RC8 I think.

I'm thinking Buell should have canceled the Laguna press launch when they realized that they were way behind schedule. Suspension and fueling are two things that should be very good at a press launch. Anyone remember the Bimota direct injected two-stroke?

I think the "review" of the 1125 was just posted at the Le Mans Pro Twin race it was "Ducati-Buell-Ducati-Buell" That is the best review you can get.

Champsbuell:

Very good point. How much more do the 1098R's cost than the 1125r??? How much more HP does the 1098R produce than the 1125r?

Hmm, sounding like more of a bargain all the time!

Don't forget, the standard that the 1098 is held to on performance is the $11k GSXR1000, not the $20k MV Agusta.

If you are not joking, then please explain the massive drop in price from the 999 to the 1098--seems like Ducati doesn't believe the same to be true.
