The oil light should have come on if it was pulling air into the oil lines, assuming you had a chance to see the light while riding.

Does your oil light come on when the bike is not running?

The light was not on but it is always on when I have the key in the ignition position before I start it up.

OK, just wanted to make sure it works.

It's probably debris in a lifter. If it's not doing it now, it may have flushed it out.

Maybe the light doesnt work because when I drained the oil, not even a quart came out.

It will still have an constant supply of oil due to the drysump design, even at that low of a quantity.

If it was that low, however, I'd guess that it got an air bubble or two in the pump. Not good, because that means the rest of the motor lost oil pressure briefly, as well.

I wouldn't worry about, just don't let it happen anymore! These are pretty tough motors!
