I am thinking of buying the NRHS front mount to replace my snapped original. Has anybody heard of a NRHS one snapping, Does it cure the left hand bolt snapping problem. Is there a better way of mounting the front of the engine. all Ideas welcome Lee |

>>>Has anybody heard of a NRHS one snapping, The NRHS is well engineered. I've never heard of one having a bit of problem and they are akin to artwork. |

Lee Have only heard good thinks about the NRHS mount. But a German company makes a link that mount from the center engine mount to the top of the front isolator bolt. Can't find the address now but it was listed recently in another post by Gunter, an option. I'm currently biding on a 96 mount on ebay that is more robust like the one on my early S1. Joe |

The permanent fix for tube frame Buells is to fit the >04 XL (or Buell XB, whichever you fancy) heads. This has the advantage of much more robust bolting arrangement, which when used along with the NRHS mount means a permanent fix for this long time issue. As a bonus you get the best heads ever produced by the factory for a road going XL based motor. HTH. |

I use an NRHS mount on my 2000 M2. No problems in 3 years... but I never had a problem with the old one (for 5 years!), either. I think an interesting solution would be the Stenzel stutze (strut) suggested above. The engineering makes perfect sense, and Xldevil from Germany reports no known failures. |

I've installed a couple of the NRHS mounts, one on an M2 the other on an S1. No issues with either one. I saw som interesting stuff on the stock one I removed from an M2 head. I'd removed it from the M2 last year (the entire Thunderstorm top end) an put it on my S2. I just redid the top end on the S2, when I removed the motor mount to send in the heads there was a very disconcerting pattern on the left side mount. I'll have to post pictures. I'm positive it was about to go within the next 1000 miles. When I rebuilt the motor, I used the stock S2 mount, it appears to be of a better design and had none of the teltale marks on either side. If I had the time, I'd have ordered an NRHS mount. Brad |

Brad, can you describe the disconcerting pattern? If I don't decide to go with the Stenzel option I might go with the S&S mount instead, if I even do anything. |

Mike, I'll take pictures when I get back from MBV. In a nut shell you could see that the faying surface on the mount had been "rocking". The top and bottom above and below the bolt hole had wear marks. They were no longer held flat against the boss on the head. I have a theory about the cause but can't quite put it into words yet. I was going to take some pictures and annotate them with arrows and such. Brad |

Sounds like the Stenzel bracing bar may address the potential rocking. |
