Soooooo I purchased for my ’03 XB9S the open airbox kit, drummer catch can, Jardine Ti exhaust, race ecm and K&N filter. I installed the lot, did an oil change, and did the TPS reset with my uncle (Buellinator). That’s when things got weird. I ran the bike connected to the computer to normal running temp as per recommended, set the idle, and everything was running great (sounds AWESOME). Shut the bike down, it cooled off for about 20-30 mins and went to fire it back up and it was very hard to start and idle. I realized that not having the outer airbox installed may have caused an issue (moron!), so I reinstalled and did the TPS again. Once again got it as warm as I could, set the idle etc. This time after shutting down it would not even fire at all! Pulled the plugs to see if they were fouled. Nope. Let it sit for about 30 mins, fired right up and idled around 1050- 1100, right where I set it. Took it out for a spin and holy $#%T!!! Totally different bike! Hard to keep the front down! I was a bit freaked out by the TPS problem. Anyone else experience this issue??

Usually after the TPS being reset it will run like crap until you cruse it for a good 15 to 20 minutes at around 3500 rpm's. At least mine ran like that..sputtered, popped, gagged, farted..the works at an idle. But purred like a kitten after that. This just last weekend, and again this next weekend after I toss on my Jardine exhaust, race ecm, and K&N filter Im sure. Can't freakin wait.. |
