I'll see your $1500 and raise you $2000. I really hope this is one of those instances of "honey, you really need to sell that motorcycle to feed me and the kids". "Look dear, I've had it on e-bay twice and times are hard, nobody wants to bid on it (especially after I've pissed them all off and jacked the price up)". |

You know, for someone that wanted a really clean X1 and liked that paint set, $6K wasn't a bad price, not a good one either but workable. I like to think that there were at least 1-2 people that may have bid on the last day or offered a little less if now one bid at all, but now wouldn't even offer after seeing how the guy blew up. What an idiot. |

Badlions, how dare you quote me. Because of you it's now $3500 more. This is intolerable insufferable and injust. |

Sean, I know frustrating selling something can sometimes be... But by threatening the potential bidders to raise the rise for every day of non-bidding only hurts you by reducing the chances of a sale... Not to mention is grounds for ridicule, as you may have noticed. I too find the situation amusing, but you brought it upon yourself. Best, Peter P.S. Perhaps I am missing part of the story, but from what I have read the whole thing is rather childish... |

So is the seller someone on BadWeB? This whole thing is rather strange. Selling a Buell on E-Bay has now become a Monty Python skit. I give up trying to find out what brand/model tires it has on it. |

I am not the seller. My second post on this tread indicates that. Here I'll quote myself "gotcha!" I couldn't resist. Mikej, good luck finding out what tires they are. |

That's only if you can say Pirelli Phantoms, you know, they don't sell those at K-mart. CAN I GET A $500, HAMMEROID? (In my best Al Sharpton voice) |

Thanks Kyrocket. I thought my sarcasm was pretty apparent. For you, I will let it go for $2500 and I'll throw in shipping. The rest of you meanies...... $13,000 plus S&H. Now give the Gov. a Harumph! |

The ad sez they are "BRAND NEW PIRELLI PHANTOMS" Ah, thanks, I had a hard time reading the ALL CAPS COLORED TEXT, think my eyes just glazed over. All the K-Marts around here either closed or turned into a Sears pseudo store. Hammeroid, Yep, caught the gotcha early on. edit to add: yep, Pirelli Phantoms link (Message edited by mikej on March 24, 2008) |

Badweb has turned into the eBay Buell item police. You better not try to sell your bike for more than market value or claim that it's a "John Buell Signature Edition" or we're gonna let you know how wrong you are. I'm guilty myself, it's funny, but you know we can be some snobbish bastards can't we? |

Sorry, I take full responsibility. I debated whether or not to bring it up the second time around but the first time I had to, what with a $9800 asking price and all. We're not snobbish, we just want everyone to be as educated as possible about the best motorcycle ever made. D@%N, Hammeroids sarcasm is rubbing off. |

You were being sarcastic? lol I know I'm guilty of exactly that. Woe be to any unsuspecting passer-by that shows more than a passing interest in my bike. He just wants to know who makes it and by the time he can get away I've told him, the engine type, displacement, the chassis geometry, where the fuel is, where the oil is, talked about the perimeter brake, mentioned my other buell, told him about the other models, quoted the stats of the new 1125R, mentioned BadWeb, and if I know of any for sale and where he can get one. |

I don't feel so bad now. I have a tendency to try and make converts out of people who ask anything about my bike too. Heaven help the poor slob that makes the mistake of trying to throw out a quick compliment as he walks by...I have a tendency to educate Buell salesmen too and refer them here. As for this clown, apparently he missed supply and demand day in jr. high economics class. What a tool. Surely it's all a joke and/or he was selling under duress. |

Humph. No bids. What a bunch of meanies, showing a fellow Buell owner no love. Not even a hint of a bid, how many of the watchers do you think were just watching out of curiosity to see who the dummy would be to place a bid? I would agree with the joke/duress hypothesis if it had been the first auction. It's the second with this bike, first time the starting bid was $9800 and as you can see it went bidless also. I would be torn to post it again if it comes up, I kinda feel bad for the sap but deep down I'm laughing my butt off. It's like the proverbial train wreck, I want to look away but can't. Gentlemen, I will dearly miss the sarcasm, until next time. Goodnight and God bless. Michael |

It is indeed a train wreck scenario . . . I get the distinct impression that the guy was massively misinformed about what he attempting to sell. I would hate to think that he bought into all the crap that trying to foist off on a buyer . . .but it may very well be that he paid for this bike based on this very same naive gullibility. My sympathy gets cut short when I recall is "unique" marketing style. The all caps bright color text is, IMHO, ill advised . . .and then the misinterpretation of why people were viewing his auction . . . and then the snarly reaction to to some of our attempts to set him straight. Nope, he deserves to continue to pay eBay fees while watching his auctions go bidless . . .it is a form a Darwinian justice. (Message edited by doncasto on March 24, 2008) |

He could unlock his caps key, change the opening bid to one cent, put in some reserve price that he "will" let it sell for, then let the cards fall where they may. I'm guessing it would top out at $3,500 or so. Second sale attempt I think means he is now payment due for listing fees. And those fees are probably based on his opening bid price unless the fee structure changed since I last sold a vehicle on E-Bay. |
