This question is directed towards anyone who is using the Hepco Becker Junior, Journey, or Junior Flash bags on their XB? How is the bike with the bags on? Any change in handling? Overall impressions? I am going to be buying the Junior Flash series but I wondered if the 40's will be TOO big and maybe scale down to the 30's. What do you think? Any pics of the mounts without the bags? Any info would be appreciated. tanks for your time. | ||

I have the Buell HB bags on my Uly. With all three on it does have an effect on top speed. Cross winds, cornering, wheelies, drafting other vehicles, no problem. For the most part you don't even know they are there unless you load them heavy. Even then it doesn't make the bike feel much different. You just seem to be a touch slower in the twisties, compensating for the extra weight without consciously thinking about it. I run mine all of the time. | ||

I have the Uly H&B Journey Bags on my little '03 XB9S. They do look a bit big from certain angles, but to tell you the truth, I haven't really noticed any difference in handling with them on. In fact, I usually forget they're even there, and have to consciously remind myself not to split lanes when I have them on! | ||

Sorry, sometimes I can't see what is in front of me. I also had the Buell soft bag trio on my former City-X. Fill'em full and you'd never even know they were there. But those had stiff sides and didn't use racks. | ||

I put the bags on the side of my bike, thinking that I will take them on and off in a quick release fashion (they are mounted to the frames with fender washers) they have not been off the bike since that first weekend. No noticable adverse affect in handling. And it is nice to have a place to put the rain/mud gear when the weather turns nasty. | ||

Coop, TANKS soo much for the pics. I am having a terrible time making up my mind if I should keep the CITY-X or buy the 2008 ULY. I am taking a trip out west this summer for my 40th birthday and just feel like I can't decide if I should keep my bike or trade up for the ULY. I do love my City-x and figured if I could get more storage for trips that I like to take well then maybe I can just keep my city-x. Any suggestions would be helpful tanks. | ||

storage on a CITYX? leave the passenger at home and get a rear case. Pelican cases left and right on H & B brackets. H & B Sport Trunk mounted on a Ventura Tail rack. Tank bag for the immediate essentials. Enough Storage for a 9 day disappearing act   2 for the price of one post Badlionsfan should love that | ||

Tank - Im heading out to Deals Gap next month, and am planning a trip out to Pike's Peak later this summer (from DC). I'm sure these bags will come in VERY handy! Cityxslicker and I both have the Hepco brackets, same type as the Uly, just smaller. I picked up the brackets new and the cases used for a total cost under $500... pretty good for quality, hard side cases. I also sport a tank bag for longer rides. Also, if you pick up the Ventura rear rack like Cityxslicker has, I'm sure you could easily figure out a way of mounting a top case to it (H&B or Givi or whatever) without too much trouble. You could even just use the Ventura rack as it was intended: strap whatever gear you want to it. I think they have specially-made soft luggage that attaches right to the Ventura rack that you can buy as a set. At any rate, I hope this gives you some options for mounting luggage to your City X. As long as you are willing to give up your pass (for longer rides, at least) You could have just as much storage as the Uly, without the larger, longer frame and that slow-revving 1203! ;) (Message edited by coops53233 on March 18, 2008) | ||

If I were taller I would have bought the ULY, if they had the TT when I bought I would have that, but I have the CityX and she is paid for, so gas, oil, tires and MUD. All a good bike needs | ||

Well I made up my mind once and for all...... I am keeping my CITY-X. I ordered the Junior Flashes with the mounting brackets from Eurotech. I should have them mid april. For some reason I just can not get the smile off of my face when I look at and ride my bike. Sat on the XT and I just did not feel right on the bike. So I bought some sliders, side screens for the seat, new shifter, and will be waiting for the bags to have the transformation complete. tanks again for your insight. I do appreciate it. | ||

I know what you mean... I rode the Uly during demo days. It felt good, but just not quite as good as my s. Sounds like you made the right choice. I think you'll be happy with it! | ||

Looking forward to the pics Tankhead. The CityX really is a rugged durable platform for whatever you want to do. I make mine my commuter, touring bagger, corner slicer and backwoods puddle mucker. Seriously the SINGLE most fun bike I have had. Ride safe, ride often. |
