I'm not having much luck with my 1125r. First the fuel smell problem. Still not fixed. Second, find out the oil was overfilled by 1.5 liters. Third. Go to take the bike out for a ride today. Battery dead. No accesories on it. Sitting for 2 weeks. Anyways, no big deal. I charge up the battery. Didn't notice anything. I went to fill it with fuel, then reset my trip meter. Well.. Now I have 14 klms on my bike. It seems it has reset to zero when the battery died. I did a double check, and even the first service countdown reset...Seems my bike is now brand new again! Anyone else have this happen to them? |

That is NOT supposed to happen. I've disconnected my battery several times and nothing resets. Not even trip meters. That would be enough for me to take it to the dealer. Zack |

I dunno, I think it may be another hidden feature to surprise and delight. Think of the resale value benefits.

The ECM may have just been left in a state where it is malfunctioning. I'd suggest, with a freshly charged battery, unhooking the battery wait 1 minute and then hook it back up. Essentially rebooting the ECM. It is after all just another computer with a processor, memory and software. If this doesn't correct the problem then take it back to the dealer as you may have a bad ECM. |

Well the ODO data is stored in the dash and even if left disconnected for prolonged periods of time should not reset. The ECU should not be involved with the ODO reading, unless it sent the "reset" command; which it should not be able to do. |

ODO data is stored in the dash console that it is correct. The same is still true thought. It's a computer and may be malfunctioning. A complete and clean power reset my correct the malfunction. |

very true... For some reason the idea that the dash is also a computer slipped my mind. Its certainly worth a try. (Message edited by interex2050 on March 23, 2008) |

Ok I unhooked the battery. Success! Well sort of. Trip meter reads 485 KLMS (True) ODO now reads 305 KLMS (Correct mileage before the reset). I rode 175KLMS on the reseted ODO. That seems to have vanished. I assume Spectrum was correct, the dash or ecm must have been in some sort of error state. There is an extra 175klms on my bike now not recorded on the ODO ... Thanks for the help guys... Sure beats taking it to the dealer and letting it sit there for a couple of weeks! |

Ah cool, glad it worked. I wonder if Microsoft had something to do with the design. |

Mike, at least call Buell CS and tell them about it. That doesn't sound good for the odometer to "lose" miles. Zack |

maybe related, maybe not. Twice I have come home with the fuel light on. Once with 4 miles and the other with at least 10+ miles. (on the "fuel" mileage) Next morning on start up, the fuel light is still on but the "fuel" mileage indicator is at 0 I purposely came home tonight with the fuel light on and logged that I was at 5.7 miles on the "fuel" mileage. Will see what it is in the morning.. |

My XB and 1125R both reset the fuel mileage counter as you have described. Basically every time the system turns the light on and off, it resets the mileage counter. |
