Good? Bad? Indifferent? I pulled the air filter cover off to clean the air filter. Surprisingly I have a KN. Don't have to buy one of those now. But I found there was oil, not too much, but enough to make me wonder why? This doesn't seem right. Any ideas? Hopefully I'm not in trouble. Well, with the bike. I'm in trouble because I now have oil all over my girl's keyboard. |

You could have overfilled the motor and it blows out the breather tubes into the airbox, well that's what the manual says. The Keyboard. Belly up and buy her a nice new Logitech wireless set up. and 12 Roses to make up for it! (Message edited by Birdy on March 21, 2008) |

Ok...I thought maybe it was because of an over fill. And the keyboard is a Logitech wireless and she is now just walked in and looking over my shoulder. |

Yep in trouble with your GF FOR SURE!!!! The Buell will live. That bit of oil is why some riders route those breathers to a catch can instead of ingesting those noxious fumes back into the engine. Later Neil S. |

Could this be why it feels like it sputters at higher speeds/rpm's? Once I did a good cleaning of the oil inside the air filter area, I took it out and hit about 110. I purposely hit the rpm's high. No sputtering. |

Firebolt32 How much oil u talken about? With the breather hose's in there and what I see on mine is more than just a general coating. The left hose is the shortest. I plan to extend it under the air box. From what I hear thats where most of the oil is from. Sputtering should have nothing to do with the air intake as in with oil in the air box. unless it is an excessive amount of oil. thinking the short tube is the prob. C. It was about a general coating. Not soaked, but you definitely know oil is there. |

I have the same coating of oil. But most of uneasiness is under 3200 rpm. has been that way off the floor. |

Mines around 5,6. Sometimes it just seems like it wants another gear and its not there. I thought maybe I picked some water up in the gas. What I have done though to clean that up a bit is put a shot glass of methanol in the tank. Burns it really clean. But the sputter is still there a bit. |

I did check the plugs and wires. They seemed fine. As for a TPS reset, I'm not sure what the consists of. I've only had the bike 4 mnths. |

Sorry i cant explain what the TPS does exactly but has to do with the computer and is the throttle position sensor. Thats one of the first things questioned. The dealer can do it if u trust them or u can get the software and do it ur self with a laptop. |

if the oil is just kinda a light film every where is just what CC said, that's why people run the catch can to keep your engine from drinking that crap. |
