my new scg has kind of disapointing performance... i realize that its not broken in good yet, but it sure doesnt have the throttle response of the 03 with the race kit... has the moco locked out any performance mods with the new system? (no race kit) i dont care about the speed thing, i just want a responsive motor... |

Dave, Get some more miles on it...also the 9 is geared different than the 12...I don't think you will be disapointed after break-in... Mike |

My '08 XB12R has a bad stumble/flat spot off idle. I didn't realize it wasn't just a v-twin quirk until I rode my son's new '08 XB12S after he got it. His has instant throttle response right off idle, since new. On my bike you better hit the throttle about 3 seconds before you drop down a gear for the motor to respond in time for the clutch release. I'm going to take it back to the dealer and see if they can fix the ECM. |

I have the same stumble in performance off idle (when she is running). Is this something the dealer can fix? DOOM |

I don't know for sure, but I would think they could flash the ECM and see if that fixes it. I was also going to find out if they could just load my son's stock map to mine. I know his works fine. |

Sounds like a TPS reset is needed. I thought that was built into the 08' models. You might ask your Dealer/ Service Manager how the TPS reset is accomplished on the 08's. It might just be a sequence of turning the key on/ off with the throttle open/ closed at the right time. Again, working with the Dealer and Service Mgr. is a real good place to start. Later Neil S. |

I've done the TPS reset a couple of times, didn't really make a difference. You're right about the reset sequence, really easy, no tools needed. |

the 2008 requires no (meaning you can't) tps reset. |

Straight out of the '08 XB Models service manual, P.N. 99490-08YA (which includes the XT):

i talked to the buell guru at gainesville harley about the poor low speed trottle response... he stated that currently there is nothing that can be done about the situation and he hopes that ecm spy will resolve it soon.. so in other words, live with it and hope for better days... |

You should have kept my old bike, Dave. It definitely had low-end grunt. Heh heh, only messin' with ya. But I imagine the race kit helped out in that regard. |

Uhh... I can't imagine how Buell could have screwed up throttle response with what they changed. I'd say they need TPS resets. |

A battery tender will also help an odd stumble. The ECM is voltage sensitive. |

you are right van, the 03 ran like a champ... newer is not always better, or so it seems...i was thinking about calling customer service, but i know i will get the standard line "they all do that"!.. ill bet others are having this same issue, but just not saying anything...i did the tps proceedure, thanks for the info.... |

yep.... same issue here on my 08 TT. runs like crap if you ask me. at 200 miles the rocker box was leaking, not to mention the stumbling bumbling engine! |

My 08 XB12R also stumbles off idle. There may be a glitch in the program from the factory for some reason. I am thinking ecmspy2 may be able to help. |

several people have told me that they thought the spy will be the answer, but no one that i know of has been successful in coming up with a program so far.....anyone have any gurus in their locale? |
