Got the carb dialed in, did a couple of other small things to her and took her for a short trip around the block. I need a new battery and am waiting on the rear fender but other than that it is good to be done. I will take her on an extended ride after work tomorrow and baring any other problems she will be ready for the trip home to NC (in the truck) and MBV. Without the BadWeb and all the great people like Ratbuell, Andy at Appleton HD/Buell, Murrae at Santa Fe HD/Buell and Al at American Sportbike I do not think I could have done this project in a relatively short amount of time. >>>>>RT, I owe you a beer!!!!! Worked great. Frank. . . I may have wisdom, acquired from either age, personally knowing him, or experience but my concern for your personal safety dictates that I warn you not to appear at Welcome, TX with ONE beer. The only bright side of this is that your ass would be kicked so far you'd likely end of in NYC and I don't drink. Drive a truck. Take a case. If Bomber or Blake is there . . . take 2 . . . er, trucks, not cases. |

I'm a peaceful man. I wouldn't kick anybody's ass any further than the Welcome Store, where they happen to sell cold beer and other essential grocery items. And that's only a couple of miles down the road. Of course, it's a gravel road... Happy Easter!

Fountain Colorado to Welcome TX is about 900 miles. Court is right; more than one beer is in order after all. I would hate to show up with one beer, get my ass kicked down a gravel road and head chewed off by a dog. But what the hell, worse things have happened. Of course I have been explaining a lot of my stupid actions on PTSD lately! BTW: It took thirty minutes to bleed the brake and that included removing and installing the rear wheel. I never would have thought to elevate the caliper. I spent two days trying to bleed this sucker, I went out to the garage to try the RT method and came back in when it was done and the GF said, still doesn’t work? and I said, beer time, its done baby! Lynn was supportive as she stated that I did the brakes on her Sporty in about 10 minutes? Yes, I responded, but this is a Buell; a high performance machine using 1950s mixed with 1990s technology. She said; better take another bike to MBV you will never have that bike done in time. It is hard to explain to her why I want to take THIS bike to MBV. She points to the S2 and says what is wrong with the silver one? Nothing I say. She points to the XB12R and says what is wrong with the black one? Nothing I say. Then she says the white one leaks gas all over the garage, the electrics are shaky, there is brake fluid everywhere, it took a whole afternoon to put the exhaust on and you have NEVER ridden it. I started into my lecture, as she rolled her eyes a bit: In 1997 I bought a 97 S1. I loved that bike, it was fun, it was cool and it was fast and sounded great. It was stolen and now probably in parts. The 98 S1W is the pinnacle of what that bike represented to me. I saved it from being chopped and have cut my knuckles trying to fix her. And when you hear her run down the road and you look expecting to see a Harley, you stare because you do not know what it is until you see the blinding white color with the bold blue letters spelling Buell then you know. By the time you hear the Thunder, it is too late! Lightning! Frank |

Well said, Frank. Don't forget that it'll shake your eyeballs out of their sockets, your hands will start to tingle, the seat will crawl into a place no upholstry should ever go and the fumes from the exhaust will make those displaced eyeballs start to water. It's the best experience ever Gawd, I need to get back on my S1W! C'mon, doc....lemme bend my knee that far again.... The bike looks awesome. Great job, and enjoy that maiden voyage! |

F man, Awesome bike!!! Hence my handle "Paint shaker"... Goes great with my 98 S1W, but not so much with the 08 12R. I hope to have both bikes at MBV! |

Frank, a bunch of us from Austin Tx are coming out to MB, we will look for your bike, shake your hand, and get you a beer! We have a few S1 fiends in our HillCountry HellBuellies group who I know will really appreciate your efforts. Right now we are burning the midnight oil to get my X-1 ready for one of our crew who's Buell is out of commission for MB (see, you always need more than one Buell!) Christian |

Christan, thanks and I look forward to seeing you. I just arrived in NC after 1,850 miles with the S1W in the back of the truck. I picked up some bumpy road damage to the rims and still need to check over the bike but she fired right up. See you MBV and I hope the X1 gets together in time... Frank |

Frank: No need to fear my dog:
I'm probably less dangerous than she is... But if you were to ride an S1 900 miles, the beer would be on me! Bring your own Preparation H, though! rt |

RT, LMAO... I could not see riding that beast that kind of distance after riding it today. Fun? you bet! Comfort, well lets just say that is what the S2 is for.... |
