Ben (above) won the Expert Class but crashed HARD after crossing the finish line. I think he broke his shoulder.

Mike Myers (above) had to BORROW his wife's bike because his X1 had a rocker box leak. Susan Mike Linda and I took the scenic ride home through the PA/MD countryside, a very nice ride. This is me courtesy of Susan. I finally beat Neil today, but by less than a tenth of a second! |

He left his gloves in his boots... Damn that kid's fearless. Look at his face. If I was that far over, you'd be able to see the seat poking out of the top of my helmet. |

Hey....is that our own Mikey Two Buells grinning EAR TO EAR in that helmet! Too cool!~ (being seperated from the bike a couple times will make the gloves and beanie helmet problem cure themselves. Those beanie helmets are not only goofy as hell, they are dangerous as hell) |

Mike, you guys actually separate the riders into different skill classes? Brian has just been doing it by bike class, which by the way I still protest the firebolt being included with the lightning class I like the idea of different skill classes, but how do you differentiate between expert, beginner, etc? |

Dyna, anyone with a Pro/expert racing license, weekend club racer or multi-TToD and BattleTrax winner is put into the expert class. This is up to the Local BattleMaster, remember these events are to promote Buells. This is our first year having State BattleTrax Champ series' it's also really tough to change things half way through the series. We will learn and do better next year. As for the XB running with the S1,X1's. there are four experts that run the Pa BCS. I ride the only XB and came in 4th in my first two events that I ran. (due to working the event, I ride about half as many laps and the rest of the guys) Joe rides a X1 and Al and Ben have S1W's. Joe is about .5 faster than all of us. Al, Ben and me are so close, we always swap places. But with the experts we have an X1,two S1's and XB all together. (btw, Joe wasn't at the 4th event and I came in 2nd by beating Al by 0.01 of a sec.) The 3rd Pa event we had one XB run by himself. It was boring for him and the fans. Should I have put him with the lightings? flip a coin. The 4th Pa event we had two XB's and 3 lightnings. They were separate. When all of us Pa guys go down to Maryland to run all the Buells are in the same class. no experts. Like I said above each BattleMaster does it just a little different. Remember this is our first year and next year it should be more common between states. |

Mike, I see where you are coming from. I really dont have a problem with the bolts being in my class, just seems like no matter what I do he always nips me by 2-3 tenths. Oh well, just gives me more reason to practice for next year & come out that much harder. Actually we only have the 1 XB running in our events, I dont know if everyone else is afraid of dumping their new bike or what, so it would be unfair to him to be in a class of 1. I am looking forward to next years events already. I was talking to one of the Buell reps who was responsible for putting this series together, dont recall his nmae tho. I mentioned that myself & the boys from chicago would love to see a multistate deal go thru. He said he was working on that for next year. Utitlizing dealerships from the southeastern wi & northeastern Il would be great. Right now we only have 2 regulars Roger & Bomber coming up from chi-town. Would love to see more involvment. I would also like to see it last a bit longer, 5 events is a great start for a first year. Next year I hope to see it grow into 10-12 events & last 4 months or so. 1 other point I would like make is, do you guys..the Battlemasters have any say as to which dealerships you will be attending? The reason I ask is it would be great if the events were held at dealers that actually had tipover parts in stock. A few Buells go down & invariably they have the busted shifter or clutch or brake lever etc. They go into the dealership & are told "nope, we dont have that". Basic parts that break during these events should be available. |

I got a few pics of Battletrax at the Republic Of Texas rally in Austin from my good friend Mister MC Mac Daddley Chadley of "Fly Ho Silver" fame. Get down with your bad self and check out the following (see next post, I hope, if I can add these files correctly!): Jay "Brick" Howze '00 X1 |

Lloyd, Fearless Leader of our local group "Fools On Buells", was having trouble with the steering on his X1 so he simply opted not to use the front wheel! I believe he had the fastest time for a street "legal" bike (doesn't that ECM say "For Race Use Only", Lloyd?). |

Lloyd turned even faster times on his Sherco trials bike. Here he is (after the event was over) demonstrating the special levitation option he had added to his bike!
