Birdsong: Looks like rain tomorrow, might have to rethink the ride. If there is a dry period throughout the day we could still hit the blue door and look at yer smoker.....(still watchin the weather) RR |

RR, Sounds good...I have a 2001 Honda VLX that I am trying to sell, might have a buyer, kid just needs to find some financing..I am taking those funds and the rest of my Enron Severence and put some time and money into the buell....I had some thought of trading the buell, but I like this bike too much. Any advise on getting the Extended warranty ? I have till December to make up my mind....To be honest, didnt think I would need it when I bought the bike. By the way, I know I have not ridden with you guys yet, but Cats and Gerbils? Maybe I better check out that Honda riders Club. |

Birdsong: I got the extended warranty and now wish I would have saved my $. with the owners manual, this board and a few buds with the right tools you won't need it. Besides, every time you take your bike in for service on the extended plan, it costs $50-$100 depending on what has to be done. fugetaboutit! OH,and go ahead and check out the honda riders club! They just mix their gerbils with rice and soy sauce!!!That still don't make it chicken!!! |

Just quit raining up here. Hope it's dry for track day at OHR tomorrow. I just tallied up the mileage from Houston to Talamina SP via Kilgore (59N to 259N). Looks like roughly 450 miles. FYI: The Big Slough is in Davy Crocket National Forest. Look for Crocket, then Weches. A big forested wet place with oldish growth trees and walkways/boarwalks for exploring the wetlands. The roads there are nothing to get excited about. |

BTY: keep us posted on the thrills in the hills. Those are some of the best roads I have ridden in texas. |

RR, I'm gonna hit the road here, looks like the rain got by us...I'm gonna keep it easy, hang around HWY-149, go up through the forest....if you cut loose, my cell is 832-216-1792. |

OK,let's see...450 on Friday to get there, another 300 or so chasing Blake around on Saturday, then 450 back home on Sunday. I think I'll start soaking my butt in brine to toughen it up now... I'm up for itbut if Mrs_Road_Thing decides to come it'll be on the big noisy La-Zee-Boy... My Buells are strictly one-up scooters...(and MRT isn't known for her fondness of long rides)! r-t |

I'd be totally in favor of a four day weekend if y'all are up for that. How many of us enjoy camping versus, motel, versus, nice lodge? |

Blake: When? Need dates...... I would camp as long as it's on a river, lake or pond. Gotta wash the bugs off ya know |

Camping=Slow room service!(Unless, of course, Blake is packing the Big Green Sofa and the shag carpet...) I'm too old and cranky to sleep on the ground! A nice lodge sounds to me. Four day weekend sounds good, too, if I can swing it (new job, don'cha know...) Should we shoot for cooler weather in the fall, or are we far enough north of I-10 that heat is not an issue? r-t |

OK and AR have nice facilities at their parks, including showers, if you're into that kind of thing. |

R-T: Another thing we could consider is trailering the bikes to blakes, cutting the miles in half. Maybe saving us all from getting MONKEY BUTT syndrome |

Tweety: I had a '78 R100/7 that was an absolute brick. I put 40,000 miles on it with little more maintenance than oil & tire changes. Sold it when I took an overseas job about 10 years ago, wish I still had it. r-t |

Runny: Do you think you could stand the inevitable heaps of scorn that "Long Distance Blake" would pile on us if we showed up with bikes on a trailer?? Maybe we could ditch the trailer outside Tyler and ride in from there... r-t |

R-T; you may be right, so I have this freind in Rusk. We could dump the trailer there and ride on in to Tyler, about 40 miles. Im sure blake won't read this post ,so he will be none the wiser. Ya think? By the way.. did you get my e-mail about this weekend? |
