Author Message   Midknyte Posted on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 04:18 pm:        This seller has these lamps in Dual-Filament type (turn + running light). I'd seen them before in a number of places, but always only as a regular single filament... I had to drill out the mounting holes a bit to allow for the thicker stalks. I also had to replace the connectors on the new lights (they were too small), and tap off the brake low lamp line. All quite easy. These turned out really nice and I think they will end up being the one best thing I've done to the bike (as they increase my visibility to other traffic). They disappear / blend into the bodywork very nicely and are BRIGHT! You might note that [are not the same but] they also look very similar to the new lights on the 1125. He has them with black, chrome, and carbon fiber (real, looking, I dunno) housings. Only thing is the state law here requires red running lights in the back. I thought that they would fit right on, but I had to drill out the holes after all... Not rigid. Not overly flexible. Take a good look at the first pic up there and you can see that there's about 3/4 inch of rubber for the inside part of the stalk. Terminals on the lights are too small - replace 'em with 22-18 AWG terminals from Ace Hardware:   Midknyte Posted on Saturday, February 16, 2008 - 07:20 pm:        Since the low beam on the Firebolt is on all the time, I just made a shunt to tap off of it for the low/running lights (like it did with the tail lamp). Keeps things nice and plug & play... Ballast too big. Will not fit in fairing. And just as good for me - the bulb connector is the same. Two piece system though (ballast and igniter), but it'll pack in nicely I think there's a pocket of space for the igniter just behind the instrument panel...   Midknyte Posted on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 - 02:14 am:        Velcro'd and ready to put back together. Playing with fitment I discovered that the igniter sits perfectly inside the lower lip of the fairing and between the lights. I like this better as I was wondering if the igniter would end up chafing and rubbing against the back of the fairing stay behind the instrument panel with the bike/engine vibes.   Midknyte Posted on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 - 02:19 am:        Room to spare with a slim ballast... The brown wire of the wiring harness is your ground. Did you only do the low beam light and do you THINK there is enough room to squeeze 2 slim ballast/ignitors under there, for both beams? It looks sweet and the night pics really show off the brightness. I can't wait to do this. 2 HID lights could be overkill, but I DO ride a Buell. Momma always said I was different.
