finally got around to installing the stebel on the 1125r. It sounds much better than stock. It took some time to figure out exactly how to do it as its much bigger than the stock horn. I searched BadWeb, found a few posts and took the idea to separate the horn from the air compressor. my ingredients; 1 - Stebel Nautilus Compact (purchased from bikerhiway, they include the vital installation kit for free) 1 - 1/8" X 1.5" nipple (check the electrical and plumbing sections at TrueValue or Lowes) 4 - feet of 5/16" GoodYear hosing 1 - Dremmel a few hours of screwing around. You need to get crafty with this one. My compressor is directly under the seat and the horns are zip tied to the stock location. it certainly is loud, plus its a different tone that really stands out. My compressor is nearly 4 feet away via the tubing, so I'm sure its not as loud as it could be, but is still way louder than stock. I commute in to Manhattan and need ever advantage I can get. |

Thanks Nick it is more crazy were you are than Boston drivers I got to deal with, I was reading an article on having yellow lights making the bike stand out in traffic and could be safer, and real bright lights make the bike look further away, and I just bought hid lights but need the extra light at night and went with the 8000k which is more bluer I could have went the other way to yellow but I like blue lights for some reason, except for the flashing ones behind me. But after reading it I am thinking of maybe going up to 10,000k for a deeper blue which would put out less light. I think Hurt is going to be doing a new study, motorcycle accidents has been rising 5% each year for the last 10 years, I do not think they need a study for that it is common thence as to what is causing more accidents, over the last ten years cell phones usage has been rising as well as gas prices, so you got pissed off people from the price of gas, who are in a rush, driving to fast, and talking on there cell phones, and are jealous of us bike riders, when I am in boston traffic I get people who will try to block me or worse from lane splitting, anyway we need all the help we can get to be noticed and plan on buying one for my son and see how I like it, I feel that with someone in a big suv with kids in the car and the music blasting while talking on the phone we need a freight train air horn, does it come close to the loudness of a train?
