A friend of mine has a limited edition .40cal H&K USP Compact with the polymer frame in desert tan. Comes with tritium night sights, two high capacity clips, case, gun lock and fobus holster. It's had less than 500 rounds through it, and he is fastidious about cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep on EVERYTHING. What would be a fair price for it? He's worthy of a hug if it go's for 400. 450 is a fair price IMO. |

$450 for a USP? I would say that $550 would be fair with only 500 rounds through it. I just checked gun broker and there's one with 12 bids at $500 with nothing but a case and one 10rd magazine. Another one with the same stuff with no bids but starting at $594. That said... I had a USP40 a while back and loved it. Then I got a Kimber. It's still a good pistol for sure (the only DA/SA pistol I would buy) but the Kimber is a "very" good pistol... Even the "cheap" ones. |

I like that particular H&K. I'd pay $500 for a 100% used one in a heartbeat... if I needed one in that caliber. I really like the mag release H&K uses. I think it's far superior than the one on my GLOCK. |

Heh... these threads always break down into forum members talking about their own guns. Sorry. |

I'm sure there is the "killer deals" out there, but I haven't found them yet. I have priced the Tritium night sights at around $75-90. The high capacity magazines are harder to come by so let's price them at $20/ea. That's about $120 worth of accessories. I've seen new ones running for $725-740. My concern is in buying a "used" gun from someone I don't know. I trust this guy. |

I'm only stating what I went through. not trying to start a pissin match. If you trust him and are okay paying -- dollars for it, great for you. Was simply answering the question at hand. Never meant to come across snide or argumentative, if I have I apologize. Trust is an elusive quality, hold on to him as a friend or business associate whatever the case may be. Wish you the best of luck. |

Not at all Wile. I appreciate your insight. I hope you didn't think I was giving you any push back. I'm just not finding the deals you guys are. The best I've see was for about $650. I'd LOVE to find one for $450 in the condition I want. I don't think he'd take $450 for his. If I add in the additional stuff, we're looking at at least $575 on your deal. |

I think I paid 629.00 for mine new with 2 hi cap mags, case ,etc. but mine was all black. I don't know how much of a "limited edition" the desert tan frame is? All USP's had a polymer frames and the desert tan and I believe an olive drab frame was brought out after the original introduction of USPs came out . I do not think there was ever a stated number of limited production just a few options for the consumer. $550-575 should be a fair offer without insulting. |

That XD should be right around $500 in 9 OR .40. I just bought a XD .45 compact for $515 and then saw one at a gun show for $485 |

FB, not sure about the HK but I'd guess anything up to around $600 would be fair if it looks good. |

A great place to check prices on weapons is www.gunbroker.com On that H&K... I wouldn't ask any less then $550 for it. The mags, holster and night sights are a real bonus. I just sold a smith M&P .40 compact for $500 with night sights, extra mag and a tuckable holster. That H&K is worth every bit of what my M&P was. Why did I sell the M&P.... because I bought a Kimber SIS Ultra (ohhhh it's a sweet little rig) |

You'll have to register on gunbroker to see the sold prices on completed auctions. Used gun prices are like used bike prices, they vary heavily between regions and the buyers/sellers involved. I've also used the Gun Traders Guide and the Blue Book of Gun Values when trying to figure out what something is worth. But then I'm not really a collector or trader in firearms. Trying to figure out what something like the H&K is worth, I'd start with a new price, factor in what the accessories are worth to me personally, discount the value for being used (even though this doesn't affect some items as much as others), factor in any friendship value (should be a two-way street here, give him a little extra being a friend, being offered a little less from him for you being a friend). I will usually try to let the seller set the initial price as this will tell you if they have realistic pricing on it, and won't risk a friendship if you offer too little for it, and if his price starts out too high you can simply say you're a little tight financially right now and avoid an accidental insult. How much is it worth? I've got no idea. But I would like to have an H&K someday. ps, ensure the transaction is legal where you live. Anything crossing state lines requires an FFL to be involved for handguns. (Message edited by mikej on March 17, 2008) |

Well, he had another buyer who was willing to pay the premium. He sold it for $800. I offered $700 too late. No big deal. Before Thursday of last week, it wasn't even on my radar. Now I know I can get a new one for less. The night sights would be cool, but not hard to get if I wanted to add later. The larger capacity magazines were cool, but not really necessary. I can get the Fobus holster for about $30. I don't really care about the tan frame. I'd really rather have black. It wasn't worth the $100-200 premium to me. Thanks for the help guys. |

HK-solid weapon. +1 S1mike. I picked mine up NIB for $645. They were asking $730! Got the Hi cap mags as well. All black. The olive drab was right next to it, but I liked the black. To stay on topic, I think anything less the 650 is a STEAL for that gun and all the extras. The tan frame wouldnt +/- any loot for me personally. |

For that kind of money get a Kimber. You won't be disappointed I assure you. Again... The HK is a great weapon. I've put about 1500 rounds through a .40 full size and liked it quite a bit. Then I got a Kimber. Don't see any reason to own anything else (for handguns... .50 Barretts and Benelli shotguns are a different story ). |

Thumper, i got a deal on a full size XD .45 with case, two clips (15rds) and a holster for $500 cash. It has barely been shot too. |

I've got a Kimber as well.... all I can say is make sure you go fullsize (5") barrel. I've got a 3" and it's been nothing but problems. On the plus side though, kimbers been willing to take care of me each and every time. |

http://www.shootersjax.com/ Have your bargaining shoes on... I was able to talk them down quite a bit. I did a search for HK's just to see a price. The search came back empty. Unless they stopped carrying HK all together. I doubt that though. He said they sell a lot of them, and I believe it, they had ~7-8 different models. Give them a call. Let me know what you find out, I'm interested. |
