Hey guys it is that time of year I start thinking about traveling and break down coverage. I had M T S Towing in the past and will be getting it next month. They Cover running out of gas or battery replacement and will bring you gas or the battery and all you pay for is the gas or battery. If you need to be towed it will be by the right equipment to the nearest shop. you can resister you key number and they will cover you up to 25.00 towards getting a replacement key. You get discounts on major motels and car rentals like Days Inn, Super 8, Avis, and Thrifty rent a car. Discounts on some new motorcycles. The extra emergency service plan that is optional will cover you if you are more than 100 miles from home and covers Tires, Fuel Pump, Battery, or Cables, they will pay for the cost, Also they can ship you bike at a discount, I am know way connected to them in any way just passing on info just in case someone is interested you can go on www.mts-towing.com If someone know of a better plan let me know. I have AAA - but have never had to have the motorcycle towed. I have heard BAD stories about improperly tied-down bikes being damaged by dum-a$$ tow operators. At least MTS is focused on motorcycles - seems your odds are better. (Message edited by slaughter on March 16, 2008) |

I had M T S and they came and got me in an enclosed trailer which was made for bikes and they towed me home, I am getting the family plan this year for me and my son, I also have H O G which I can get towed but do not trust it for some reason and might not be available in non harley business hours, just do not feel comfortable with Harley service. the guy who towed me said that was all he did for work, I was surprised that he would be employed full time with motorcycle break downs, I asked him which brand breaks down the most and he said they all do and not one brand sticks out, also surprised at the answer. I had MTS years ago, good experience with them. I had a flat tire about 40 miles from home. They came and picked me up and took me to nearby shop that agreed to stay open on a Saturday afternoon to take care of me (little mom and pop shop). I was with MTS when they would pick you up anywhere you broke down. Now I believe they have limits as either customers where taking advantage or tow operators were and they were probably losing money. I have AAA now with the motorcycle and RV coverage. I have both an RV and motorcycles so this works best for me as well as the auto coverage for the Jeep. Also have the AAA plus for the 100 mile pickup deal. I have used AAA twice for the bike. Once I was about 50 miles from home with a flat and they brought a flat bed truck to haul me home. The other was when I wrecked the same bike about 5 miles from home. They are both good companies. The one thing I like about MTS is they will find a dealership to help with repairs this is especially a plus when traveling far from home in unknown areas. With AAA you would have to try and find someplace on your own. Also works great for Mike as he does not own a car so AAA does him no good. (Message edited by krassh on March 16, 2008) |
