Honestly it's hard to say, but i think they will repair. My wreck was about the same damage, with the big ticket items being 2 rims and a swingarm, they wrote it off |

Crashing sucks. Always. I'm glad you're not seriously injured, and that the bike is fixable. The bike can always be replaced, but where would we find someone else to post so many pictures that make me want to move halfway around the world? |

you never know when sh!t's gonna hit the wall and at least you were prepared for it but i think in this case the bike needs to "HTFU" |

If they total the bike for just that, I need to be watching for "totalled" bikes to buy. It'll be some money and some work, but not *that* much money and work. $2000 or less and 20 hours or less, especially if you live with a few "tatoos". Insurance companies need to HTFU. |

Glad you're OK Dave. After all "Metal ya buy, Skin ya gota grow" Don't know if they'll total it or not. Insurance is such a scam here. They paid $13000 to fix my Civic after I was rear ended rather than total it and it cost $16000 and was only 8 months old. Hope the law is on your side there because here it let them screw ya to save a dime. (Message edited by Birdy on March 15, 2008) |

And thanks Old Dog and all. Day 3 - ouch. Co-pilot says it's always the worst day. She right. Got called into the Hospital at midnight last night, Follow up blood test indicated that where my leg got crushed under the bike might have had a Deep Vein Thrombosis. 'Don't be silly Doc - the only place I've flown is over the handlebars.' Says I. 13 hours staring at the ceiling surrounded by drunk idiots in the ED later, I get the all clear - after an Ultra sound. Clotting is in the muscle so no embolism for hyou. |

Cheers man - To be honest - I wear APPROPRIATE gear all the time. Sometimes that isn't the full kit. It is on the freeway. (Message edited by danger_dave on March 15, 2008) |

when i wrecked the lighting back in october,
they totalled the bike because when the dealer wrote up the estimate, everything got put down even if it had a tiny nick in it. and in florida, if a bike is totalled, you can't get it insured again, or if you do it's not very easy. my insurance company wouldn't do it. if i would have known that, i wouldn't have turned it in and for about 500 bucks it would have been as good as new. but to replace it we went and got the nightster.
being 50 now doesn't help the healing process either. sholder feels tweeked on some days and not so bad on others. so i hope you heel better than i have. |

Dave - hope you're feeling better with each passing day. It's always hard to say with insurance which way they will swing. They totaled our Uly. We bought it back and ordered parts...still runs great! |

I like the way we can all see that you had a good pair of boots on. I didn't look near half that bad when I crashed the M2 head-on last year. Must be lucky I guess. |
