RR - Got off of the phone with Texan HD - They claim that my rings never seated? They have to go through Buell Tech Support before any work can be done. Any Advise? Only have 1100 miles on the dang thing. Took it in for Stalling and White smoke coming form the Tail pipe. |

Does the smoke come out all the time, under heavy acceleration, or right after startup. With only 1100 miles I'd be surprised if your rings were fully seated. Mine didn't stop using oil until I hit the 7000 mile mark. |

It smokes when I let off of the gas. I just got back from HD, they are going to rebuild the top half of the Engine, seemed to act like it was no big deal. I hope that this may have somthing to do with the bike stalling as well. Of course by the time I was ready to leave, they were trying to get me into a new exhaust system. Said that my forcewinder may be partly to blame (a system they installed). |

Brent, I have a bud in the woodlands that also has an M2 with the forcewinder, so he could show you what to do with that. It involves a dremmel tool, which I have if you need it. Does your bike use alot of oil? Mine puffs a little smoke after opening it up and letting off the throttle quick. I would agree with hootowl in saying that your rings are not seated yet. If you are going to increase the airflow you should consider rejetting and at least buying a slip on muffler. My bud can also give you a few ideas there. YOU READING THIS B2M2? |

They did the re-jet when I put on the Forcewinder, I guess I need to breakdown and get a slip-on. |

BRENT:I have a white brothers that you can listen to and B2M2 has a two brothers on his M2. The two brothers looks better, just a little deeper sound and not quite as loud. |

Birdsong: Okay, here’s my two cents. First, the ground rules to diagnosis are to change one thing at a time and see what’s gained or lost. So, let Texan do the warranty work (sounds like valve guides to me), then we’ll look into making the M2 breath. If you start changing things before Texan gets your (their) smoking / stalling problem ironed out there’s a greater chance the finger of doubt will be pointed back at you for something you added or changed. Besides have them fix the stuff they have all ready sold you before they sell you something else. You said that they rejetted the bike, was a Dyno Jet carb kit added to the bike? RR’s right there are some things that are quick and simple to do to get the Forcewinder to perform to full patenical (see: Knowledge Vault / Dyno Test Results / Forcewinder & Race Kit Filter). In a nutshell there are two Forcewinder intakes, Cast and Forged. If yours is cast, no worries, if yours is forged we’ll need to modify it, again easy to do and I will be more then glad to give you a hand if you like. The modification gains that I saw were in mid-range and top end performance. Nothing to bottom end or how the bike idled. Again like RR says come on by and listen to the two types of exhausts and we can talk about how well each is manufactured and which one you like the look of. And then let's go RIDE’N!!! |

Well the Plot thickens..Buell Tech service will not let Texan fix the bike. They were told to put the thing back together, fill with oil, and give back to me to ride. I am supposed to bring the bike back in a few weeks, let them measure the oil level and see if any is lost. Tech beleives that the smoke is not fron the rings. Texan can also not find a reason for the bike stalling, so I am basiclly getting the bike back with nothing fixed..... |

OK...Just picked the bike up, Its in my garage, so I am back at square 1. They want me to bring the bike back in 500 miles to measure the oil level, see if the bike is burning oil.....So Looks like I'll be doing some riding this weekend. If anyone wants to hit the road on Sunday morning I'm open to a ride. Have a buddy on a Bandit that wants to tag along. |

B2m2 - thanks for the advise, as you can probably read into my messages, I am not the best mechanic in the world. I know just enough to get in trouble. Lets try to hook up one afternoon over a few Miller lite's and take a look at the forcewinder. I know that my next step is to get the muffler, I want to hear yours and Roadrunner's and decide where to go. I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate all the Advise I have gotten from everyone one here. First round is on me.... |

Birdsong: I'm kind of hooked up this weekend but will be on vacation the next 2 weeks, we'll get together, have a beer and maybe get you some more top end out of your M2. |

"Buell Tech service will not let Texan fix the bike." That sounds like total BS to me. If I were you I'd be calling Buell Customer Service for an explanation. Did Texan give you any alternate hypothesis as to why your bike is blowing white smoke under deceleration? Did they perform compression and leak-down tests? If so what were the results? They should have performed those VERY simple and basic tests. Do they have a dyno? Did they put it on the dyno to replicate your problem? This kind of piss poor customer care really is infuriating. For ONCE a dealer is stepping up to do the right thing and the corporate group won't let them? WTF!!!??? |

Cool bike BTW, but suggest you lose the tank bra. Your tank will end up with a BUNCH of rub/scratch marks along the line where the edge of the bra rests on the tank. Also, you NEED to check you force intake to ensure it has an adequate cavity for float bowl breather port. See the discussion on this in the KV - Dyno Testing - Force Intake or something like that. A few minutes with a dremel will make a world of difference. Do you know what your jetting currently is? |

Absolutely. The Buell Customer Service Team has been doing a wonderful job of improving responsiveness and effectiveness. Your first point of contact should always be the dealer, that's where the solution ultimatley lies. However, if they can not or will not provide help, please contact Buell. Bear in mind that "Customer Service" is precisely what these people are PAID to do. Court |
