Was curious. How are the mirrors on the 1125R working out for everyone? I remember a while back some having problems with them. | ||

They are not bad for looking in your blind spot. You can't see behind you though. Also, I adjust mine to the blind spot, but they seem to move inward (possibly from the wind) so that you only see your elbows. It doesn't look like there is anything to tighten them up with so that they don't move on their stocks. The mirrors are supposed to be adjusted at the mirrors themselves. | ||

I do not have a problem with the mirrors but I used a thick washer on the mirror stud towards the rear of the bike and that helped me see behind me, I got small convex mirrors towards the point and that helped allot to. I do not like the look of the mirrors and I will be changing them when I figure out really good turn signals, I think I might go with the longer mirrors for the firebolt or something that I can see out of and look good like Rizoma's they have some mirrors I like but they are expensive and do not know if I would see good out of them. I replaced mine with Firebolt mouse-ears. I can see the faces of people behind me on the hi-way. Re-wired the signals to the running lights. I think the "quiet zone" is quieter now. Zack | ||

I would like to put some low profile turn signals where the mirrors mount and use bar-end mirrors for a change. I think I'll like the look on this bike. The shape of these mirrors are definitely not as good as the Firebolt mirrors for the rear view. But no other problems here. | ||

Mine are useless. I have keep pushing them out every five minutes or so. They fold in. I've never owned a bike before that you couldn't fix that with a turn of a wrench. I like them because they are great turn signals being nice and bright. As far as using them to see anything behind you, they are useless. On the my Uly and the Lightning at least I can grab the mirrors when I really want to see something. Doesn't seem to do much good to grab the 1125R mirrors. The tires are balanced near perfection, the Fairing shakes with every ripple in the road. (suspension set for my 208 lbs) The long stem on the mirrors amplify this with the increased arm. The mirrors themselves shake inside the housing. Can you say "China"? (guessing) "Is that a ski rack on top of that car that's right behind me... or lights?" Could this sour me on the bike. Heck no. I'm confident that Buell will fix this some how. | ||

My mirrors suck! They have two problems: 1. Everything in them looks like it was taken with time lapse photography. SMEEEEAAAARREEEEDDDD images so bad you can't tell if it's a big truck or a kia behind you. 2. The wind blows them out of position at relatively low speeds (40-50), so you are always straining to try and use them to look behind you. | ||

Bear, JD - My thoughts exactly. I tried peening the rivet tight at the base of the stalk. The mirror stays where you put it, but still vibrates worse than my 82 FXWG. I broke the right mirror taking it apart, stuffed it full of foam and cut a new piece of flat glass. Small improvement. Finally gave up and ordered a set of Firebolt mirrors, 40 something bucks. get the mirror stems in place and use supper glue to hold them in place, then take them off and do a more applications to build it up waiting for each applications to dry and that should do the trick. I would then carry supper glue with you in case you bump them and break the glue but if you do a few applications it should be good to go. | ||

I'm sure that we can all come up with some sort of cure but we shouldn't have to. I think when they have enough warranty returns they will realize that they have a problem that might need to be fixed. I have mine as an open complaint with the dealer. They say if a fix comes out I'll be in line to have the retrofit. | ||

Zac4mac, Re-wired the signals to the running lights. I read this thread a few times and it just dawned on me where Zac put the turn signals. Very cool idea! | ||

If your mirrors won't stay in place, you might be able to get a warranty replacemant on that. I seem to remember that someone on this board was having the problem (mirrors blowing out of adjustment at fairly low speeds) and they replaced his. |
