Does any one know if I can use the High temp BBQ paint on my headers? Or do I need to just get header paint? I still have some paint from when I did my race pipe. Any help would be appreciated. |

Are you painting the actual header pipes or the muffler? The paint will burn off from the pipes, but it will hold up well on the muffler. |

Don't bother, the high temp BBQ paint will burn off. I bought some 2000 degree header paint for my bike and that's what I use now, it needs to be airbrushed on though. I forget the name of it but I can find out if needed. (Message edited by damnut on March 10, 2008) (Message edited by damnut on March 10, 2008) |

I already did the muffler last summer. I just wanted to have the headers the same color. I seen header paint that is applied by brush. |

Get yourself a roll of header wrap and spray that with BBQ paint. *Tip: Use tinfoil/tape to mask off the bits you don't want painted. It hugs the contours of what you're masking off and doesn't get in the way of painting the back side of the headers. You'll have to touch it up now and then, so this makes it a hell of a lot simpler than rotating the engine down, removing the headers, breaking a bolt...blah blah blah. 2000 degree BBQ Paint will burn off your headers??? I certainly hope not! Something is VERY wrong if it does! I used 1500 degree BBQ paint on my old racecars headers, and my brother's kawasaki headers. It worked great on both. You should be fine. |

I bought the 1500 degree stuff and it burned right off. I use 2000 degree stuff now and it works well. I have it in my extra parts bin, I just forget the name of it. I will reedit my earlier post, it sounds like the 2K degree stuff burned off the way I have it written. (Message edited by damnut on March 10, 2008) |

I wonder what those colors look like "Aluminum, Cast Iron, and Titanium". Hmmm Wonder having that professionally done is less than ceramic coating. O, forget it, I can't afford it anyway. Stupid saving money. |
