Hello Just wanted to introduce myself as a new fan of the Uly. I just brought home a new-to-me 06 and am looking forward to a summer of riding (at least once this dreaded rain-snow stuff lets up). Anyway, I checked my VIN with a dealer and it looks like the warranty is up at the end of the month. I was wondering if anyone could offer suggestions of a trusted dealer around Morgantown WV or Athens Ohio. It looks like our local HD dealer just recently got back into Buells so am a little concerned. The bike has 14k on it and I was going to have them do the 15k as a precaution. What is the official word on rusty mufflers, will the factory replace them under warranty? I've lurked about for a bit and there is a wealth of good stuff on the forum! Anyone else ride an XB12X in north central WV? Ken |

Welcome and congrats. I can't help with most of your questions, but the dealer can change the muffler under warranty. Odds are the replacement will eventually rust out too, so upgrade to something like a drummer |

My factory warranty is up at the end of March also. BUT, that's when the EG_97 coverage kicks in so there is no lapse whatsoever. |

Charleston Owner - You can try HD of WV in So.Chas. PS - I think you're gonna find your Uly is the ideal WV bike. I'm looking forward to Snowshoe, Randolph, and Pocahontas. |

Ken - congrats on the new Uly. Can't help you with dealers, but thought I would pass along a link to the 2nd annual WV Rally in August. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 328370.html?1204643796 |

Ken, I'm sure you'll enjoy your Uly. I hope to get an '08 in the near future. Just got to trade in or sell my 99 Cyclone and 95 ElectraGlide. I live in Moundsville, about 20 min from the Wheeling HD/Buell dealer. I'll probably get my Uly from them. They used to sell Buells, stopped for a few years, now they're selling them again. I do most of my own maintainance so I can't vouch for their work. Get in touch with me if you want to ride when the weather clears. Rt 250 to Moundsville is a kickass road. |

Hey there Buellmeister Thanks for the tip! I used to ride 250 up from Fairmont to Moundsville...you're right it is a great ride, love the view from the ridgeline. I think they resurfaced a good bit of it about 6 years ago...? When the weather clears alright...it is slick as heck tonight...the tank tender is getting all the action. Ken |

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I made two attempts with the guys in Motown and so far not impressed. Eg_97? What is that? I love the roads around here. Last fall I found time and spent a day during fall colors doing a loop about Thomas down to Greenbank. I'd like to make it down to Randolph, I got a bike from the guys at Hillbilly in Princeton last year and the whole time I thought I should've ridden and not trailered! THanks for the invite to the rally... Looks like I'm going to try the dealer in Marietta next week. Will keep everyone posted on the outcome. Hopefully it'd be an addition to the 'good dealers' list. Thanks to all the good info I made up an ECMPSPY cable and wanted to let anyone in the vicinity know it's here if you need a TPS reset! Ken BTW Moundsville DeCarlo's is the best |

Hey Ken, Welcome to the FUN! Kristi posted a link to the WV Buell Rally and I hope you and any other Buell riders in WV can make it. Its a riding "Rally". Last year we rode 16 from Harrisville south to 60. We put on over 300 miles on mostly 2 lane twisties. We played Buell demolition derby, ate some good food and ended the day with some cold ones around the camp fire. Hope you can make it! |

Hey Joe I was on my way back from Baltimore today and stopped by the shop ...but you weren't there! I was looking to see if you guys had the factory heated grips but guess it wasn't in your parts books yet. Anyway, I hustled on home and strapped on all that heated gear and took the Uly for her first ride. What a blast! (ha no pun intended) Kind made me think of a F650 on steroids! wow. I was a little concerned about not being able to flat foot it, but it really doesn't seem to matter, losing 200lb in curb weight must make a difference! I'll be back Joe, at least to visit, you guys are kinda far for a service call ...unless you want to help me with a replacement muffler BTW thanks again for your help with the sale. Hey Ken, yeah, I've been out since Tuesday - had knee surgery on Thursday, but I'm back in the grind now. Heated grips are out of stock at the moment, we sold the last set this past weekend. N1050.1AK is the part number, but I'll shoot you an email when we get a set in. I'll see if I can do anything for the muffler, but it can be a tough one. I do know lots of guys have good luck with BBQ paint. Sounds kinda Rube Goldberg, but it works very well, just paint it while the muffler is clean and hot, the paint cures better on a hot surface. I'm glad (although not too surprised) that you loved the first ride. It only gets better! (Message edited by ratbuell on March 10, 2008) |

Just wanted to say that I ran the bike by the guys at S&P in Marietta Ohio and while they don't see many Buells, the service guys were hassle free (and put up with my questions) and made the experience quite pleasant. Thanks to Duane, Nick and Jake! Nothing found on bike other than worn front pads. We didn't pull the rear wheel but that is coming soon since tire is about worn (about 90thou left on the P-Sync). It was reasonably nice here the last couple of days so I got to tool about and got a few tanks through her. Great ride. There is one dirty bike in this picture...wonder why?
