...Okay I give up...What does that mod do besides blow hot, oily, misty air into the air box?
...You may want to rethink that mod.... |

+1 That's somewhat similar to how I had mine setup on my first go-round. I tee'd off the heads, then ran the hose down by the oil cooler with a breather filter tee'd into the line at about the level of the the oil cooler, terminating in a petcock down around my left peg with the length of hose serving as the collector. Boy, was that wrong. The vapor leaving the head is pressurized so it heads straight through the path of least resistance. In my case (and yours) that path is straight out of the filter. Wrong: Head-->Filter-->Collector Right: Head-->Collector-->Filter (with the filter located higher than the collector) My air compressor collector doesn't even do a perfect job of it: I get a little bit of blowby, but to correct it I'd have to route the breather filter back up somewhere higher on the bike, but I like how it looks... |

Okay Scotty seems to have set you in the correct direction. Post again if you are still confused I will draw a picture for you.. Remember air travels path of LEAST resistence... Is that cover over the hole (in the frame) your second mod? Where the Hell are you going to put your coffee? (jk) Are you Assuming that enough air will get through the cracks between the frame and the air box skin to supply the motor with enough air at WOT?? I would pull that cover OR cut it out. Ok I have the heads T'd off and a line going down. On the line going down to the collector I then have it T'd again with one leg going down to the collector and the other going back up to the filter. How else am I suppose to run these lines? As you can see the filter is obviously higher than the collector. Eric..... there isn't a cover on the hole in the frame. That's the frame, the hole is still open. |

Sounds like you ought to be Ok, but the lower you place the T for the filter, the better. From the pics it looked like the filter's T was right up next to the T for the heads. Crazy pic-- the one of the hole in the frame looks flat, like it's covered or something! $*%^OpTiCaL IlLuSiOn*#$@ |

That 2nd "T" needs to be as low as possible. Like on the top of your collector..(or make a 2nd. hole in the collector and run it out from there to the little filter) Then run a line to the small filter but get it away from your air filter, it is just going to suck in warm humid air that eventually makes it's way out. Basically what you are doing right now is pressurizing your line from the collector to the lower "T". Air, mist and what ever else comes out the heads will flow right to that small filter,(path of least resistance since it is pressurized) and back into your motor with it next to your main filter. Did I say that correctly? Make sense? Call me & I can explain it better...

Eric,my comment towards the "JB Weld" not being acceptable to me was exactly that and not a dig.If you're interested in helping me with the bracket you've designed i'd be extremely interested in one.I can't stress THAT enough.Let me know IF you can/will and what else may be involved.I heard awhile back in one of your posts you were working on one. |

No worries Greg you can dig at me. I can take it!!!! You want the file? You have access to a plasma cutter/water jet? May be able to persuade JP to cut one if YOU CAN NOT, I mean being a machinist and all...

Help, I cant remember the position of my main circuit breaker on my '97 M2. Kevin,my '99 X1 has the breaker under the top crossmember just over my battery. The one towards the front of the seat location.MY copper terminal is towards the inside and has the lone heavy gage BLACK wire. The other terminal has three red wires, two of which are heavy gage, one is smaller. If my description is unclear i'll try and clarify further |

Hey guys... Greg - I can cut the bracket once you and Eric get the design sorted out - I sent him the final revision that I cut last night so he can update that for the bracket cutout and he mentioned some extra mounting holes. I just need the material...I'm out... I've got all my steel in for the muffler and will be cutting the insert at lunch today...now I need to work on the back piece and the pipe!!! |
