What is everyone running as far as discs and end piece on your supertrapp. I have a 99X1 with a forcewinder, race ecm, and supertrapp. I for some reason like loud, like vance and hines loud. Should I add a bunch of discs and get the open end piece OR take the discs out and the open end piece out and run it comepletly open (I am thinking that would be similar to the V+H that I like). Hope that is not too confusing. Thanks |

I want as quiet as possible. So right now I have 12 with the turnout tip. I would like to take a bunch out to make it quieter, but according to the old FUELL magazine dyno test, 11 discs performs worse than the stock muffler. 12 is slightly better than stock muffler according to the Dyno run Aaron Wilson posted here. |

Jayvee - are you running with the open end piece or the closed one, with the turnout tip on? |

I guess it's called closed end, there's a 3" exit tube that sticks out at a 45 degree angle. Also have a Force clone and Dyna2000 ignition by the way. If you like loud, proceed directly to 20 discs and jet for that. |

i did what sleez told me to do and even the way it was set for the force pipe it still ran great. checked the plugs and they were burning great. |

I have the Supertrapp on my 2000 T-bolt -- according to my Dyno runs, run as many discs as you can afford -- and run the turn out endcap on the IDS model -- NRHS site has a good article on this -- |

24 discs seems to give optimal HP/Torque along w/ plenty of sound. Use the race cap for a few more decibels. |

Sounds good - I am thinking about 20 discs with the race open end cap cut out another 1/4" with the turnout end piece. Question is if I use 20 discs, will I need a longer screw? |

is the supertrapp as loud as the D&D? who has the best prices on mufflers these days? i had the supertrapp on my z-1 and it was nice... i had the factory race system on my first M-2 and it ran better than my x-1.. |

I would have to say that the D+D is louder than the supertrapp. I heard that the force pipe is also pretty loud. All of these pipes though are loud in there own way. |

in the decibel tests i did a few years ago, the open endcap supertrapp was just as loud as the KT, which was considered the loudest by far. the sound was tinnier and more straight pipe sounding from the KT, cuz that's what it was! tested in temecula, my S3 against Big Js M2 IIRC. all others were lower by 5-10 db. |

Been a while since I disk-ed mine, but I seem to remember that 14 discs was the maximum with the stock screws -- I remember buyin' a kit that came with additional discs and longer screws-- was a little pricey -- |

well worth the investment IMO along with the open end cap(for race use only) wink wink. |

You will need the "race" screws to add more than 14 discs. I believe the longer screws can hold around 30. Per previous post, the dyno is best w/ 22-24. The Fat Book carries the screws along with discs. Screws are about 35$. Many H-D dealers give a discount on Fat Book items( mine gives 10%). (Message edited by warlizard on March 06, 2008) |
