Thanks for the link. 1125r is currently first. Exciting times. Anyone know if the race will be televised? As the SST class get most of the airtime, we could be seeing alot of our bike... |

Congrats to the the Higbee/Bilansky team. They put in a bunch of consistent, fast laps--which bodes well for them tomorrow. Good luck to all the Buell teams! (Message edited by fresnobuell on March 01, 2008) |

Fuel consumption and pit stop efficiency will probably tell the tale....the riders and the bike are definitely fast enough. Last I heard they were using a throttle stop to get it in under the HP limit, that should maybe help the fuel consumption. It will be Very interesting to see how far they go between each fueling. |

News Flash: The #1 & #3 qualifiers in the SST class where penalized due to too much HP. Looks like we have an 1125r as the fastest LEGAL SST bike. From the Moto-ST site: Five Teams Penalized After SunTrust MOTO-ST Series Practice DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Following Saturday afternoon's practice for the opening round of the 2008 SunTrust MOTO-ST Series at Daytona International Speedway five teams have been assessed penalties for exceeding their respective class horsepower limits in post-practice tech. In the Buell Motorcycle Company SuperSport Twins (SST) class the No. 1 Aprilia USA/Lloyd Brothers Motorsports Aprilia Tuono 1000R and the No. 75 Touring Sport Ducati 848 have been penalized. In the BMW Grand Sport Twins (GST) class the No. 20 Wagner Motorsports Racing Ducati 1000SS has been penalized. In the Sport Twins (ST) class the No. 9 Pair-A-Nines Kawasaki EX650 and the No. 43 Cycle Dynamics Kawasaki EX650 have been penalized. Each of these bikes will be placed at the back of their respective classes on the starting grid for Sunday’s Daytona 300 race. The horsepower limit for the SST class is a maximum of 120 hp, for GST it is 90 hp and in the ST division it is 75. A final practice session for the Daytona 300 will be held at 9:10 a.m. Sunday morning with the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series season opener scheduled to get the green flag at 2:00 p.m. |

That is the scary thing... you can't push the 118HP limit (and need to test on the local track-side dyno) - MotoST is religious about DQ if you bust it. Gonna be an interesting season. |

Sounds like a good race to be riding an engine with a bike originally tuned for good low RPM HP first, and peak HP second. |

anyone know what happened to the 1125r teams? One appeared not to run and the other broke? I scanned the moto-st site and it looked like the Higbee/Bilansky team put up a very competitive fastest lap. Anyone know the details? |

"In spite of losing a footpeg in the opening laps, a crash and radio problems that caused an unscheduled pit stop, Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Racing was in contention for the overall win, but rubber build-up on the pulleys caused the drive belt of the team’s Buell 1125R to fray to the point it needed to be replaced. A fire during a later refueling stop brought Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Racing race to an early conclusion." http://roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=3 1602 I was keeping an eye on the LapTrax streaming and somewhere around lap 60 or so they actually were the race leaders for about 5 laps. more here http://roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=31622 (Message edited by bobup on March 03, 2008) |
