If I could find my manual I wouldn't bother you guys -- but -- does my 2000 S3 have a sealed beam headlight or does it run a bulb. I am looking forward to some long touring trips this spring and thought having an extra headlight bulb next to the taillight bulb I already pack might not be a bad ides. |

Good luck replacing it on the road. Do it in the garage first, it isn't the easiest thing in the world to do. |

I was able to pop mine out one time by using a long flat screwdriver to pop the clips without removing the fairing. It still is less hassle to take the fairing off though if you want to take the time. |

Brokeneck, I don't know how to give you the link here, but 5liter posted a bunch of pictures to help me out with my headlight first time I changed out the bulb. You can probably find the thread with the search feature. I took my fairing off b.t.w. |

First, taking the fairing off is fairly simple, remove the mirrors and turn signals. The headlight has these cheap plastic clips that holds it in the fairing spider that are real easy to break. With the fairing off, you may be able to pop the bulb out, which is why I suggested that you try it in the comfort of your garage. If you're concerned, you may just want to replace the bulb, they do last for years. |

Install an HID headlight, more light, less heat, less power, 2000 + hours life with a faring to hide the balast in it would be easy! |
