Mike I think that information is going to have to come from the speed sensor wiring or the can bus info. that is sent to the instrument cluster. the vss wire is white and the can bus wire high + si pink w violet and the low - is pink w grey ...I dont know if this info. is going to help with a shift light..i am not the greatest with some of the electrical. stuff they are doing on this one. I would imagine that the ecm is putting out a signal for the tach based on the crank position sensor which has a + wire. which is red w blue and a negative wire which is black w blue and it also has a ground wire.

So ..i am hoping with that you may find what you need ...but I wish i could be more of help.

Thanks Buzzie that might be just what I need and Al from American sport bike is asking someone who should know also, I like the setup allot and have it half hooked up as a volt meter, it does both a volt meter and shift light. Mike

I wrote to the guys who make the light and told them what you said and that it was a can bus system, so they said it would be easier to go from the ecm ignition output or the wires going to the coils? so any help with that would be good. Mike

I have a dream....

I have a dream of installing a series of LED lights inside the air scoops. I'm thinking a strip of about 40 LEDs. They would sequentially light up. Six would come on when the motor is ignited, then 2 more would light every 500 RPMs. I'm envisioning it lighting up and once combined with the sound of the engine it can lead a full assault on the senses.

Sounds crazy but I really want to do it. Can this somehow feed of the same source that is sending RPM info to the tach?

Nick I like that Idea and I was thinking of putting red leds in the pods to.

I think if you really wanted to do it, it can be done.

I see two ways first if you buy the tack and use light activated switches on each tach light to control the lights.

Second is to buy one and take it apart to see how they make the shift light work the way it does.

I think it can be done but at what cost and the pain in the ass it would be.

I spent a good amount of time figuring out handlebars that would look good and give pullback and rise but ran into to many problems so I said enough and keeping the bars stock.

you could run the led's in parallel and the voltage will stay the same, although current is gonna change a bit. Leds dont draw much current so you should be ok. Im no electrical engineer though.

Thanks Thurstonbuell, I like the heat, it is the only way to learn and to be better at communicating and writing. Mike
