Well As I live with the X1, I am still learning. I pulled the swing arm expecting to re grease the bearings and replace the seals,
errr NO! water got by the left side seal and got into the bearing and ruined the race and pins,
I pulled and replaced both, The support pins which are plated steel should be checked Mine will be replaced in ( 2010 asuming I am still around to do that ) Corosion and scoring have worn one of the 2 enough to give a loose fit to the brearing,Ok for one more cycle
new seals and bearings with water proof molly grease ( black and stinks ) I used it on the stearing head bearings they passed muster this year.
And Oh yeah dont for get to put the belt back on before you re install the iso.

The drive belt wear and behaviour still puzzles me the rear wheel is square with in 0.005" ( by my calipers ) the belt must still be too loose, lurch on take off. Pully
The chrome is chipped and the far edge of the part is "upsetting" This I can't figure out. It looks like it has for the past 2 years, with the exception of the formation of the big chips in the chrome. I am starting to see marks on the inner belt face, the belt is the new tech belt like on the uly
the front pully is rusty except on the wear faces. I am concerned with the fuzzyness is the belt about to fail? |

The intake had a supprise this year, its been 3 years since I changed the seals at the head. the fuel injector orings were original. I found evidence that the aft cylinder had an air leak. some of the symptomatics include random back fires, usuly when opening the throttle
Lots of carbon.
The body connector bolts were stubborn and had to be slotted for removal the fuel rail was loose on the manifold. The orings that seal the manifold to the injector head were looking a little rough so they are being replaced as I am disturbing both joints I will replace the inlet and outlet rings on each injector.
The business ends of the injectors were clean I wiped the shoulder off, and made sure that I did not wipe the end of the injector ( push trash into it ) per numerous suggestions I have changed the brake fluid both ends and will change the engine and gear box fluids to wrap up. |

Oldog, Your belt should be fine. I've seen XB's that do the same thing. Something isn't aligned, but nothing detrimental. If you need any replacement parts just give me a shout. Smokescreen |

I would highly recomend it for any bike that is 4 years or older or has more than 20 k miles. the originals were tracked and you saw what happened to the last set.. OH BTW get extra seals unless you have the driver tool. |
