My first (and only, so far) motorbike is an 08 Uly I got Oct 07 for my 50 mi/day commute when my 92 Mustang finally died. I considered an 1125R instead, but the pictures looked like it would be a tight fit for a tall guy (I'm 6'4"), and I was also squeamish about getting the first model year before they get a chance to work all the bugs out. So far, I am very happy with the Uly, but, like Mike, this is my only mode of transpo, and I can already tell I'll soon "need" a second bike (and I too will be 50 in May, so no time to waste!). My HD-B dealer finally got an 1125R, and it did feel cramped for my height and big feet just sitting in it (didn't take it for a ride yet). I could, however, imagine adjusting my posture and "making it fit", just don't know how realistic that is. Anybody here tall and have an 1125R? Have you made adjustments or customizations to improve the ergonomics? My alternative is to wait for a second Uly if/when they put the Rotax in it, but for now that's just wishful thinking. |

Hey Truster I am going to be making bars for my bike and will take some time and will post them when I do, I also bought a Buell Blast to teach my son to ride and it is a good second bike, 200 dollars to insure and 60 mpg heats my heated gear really good and when my son get use to riding the ulysses is his, now I seen dirt street tires that will fit the blast and plan on next year to get them and put studs in from aerostich for ice, I am buying a big bore kit and will do cams and head work this summer and then it will be ready for what ever weather is thown at me. Paid a grand for it so it is like anything happens no big deal and I have read this book from aerostich and it talks about touring on a bike like this, and if you go like to mexico or out of this country and get accused of thome thing they will take the bike and it is not worth the money to get it back. write me if you want any info I know that you can get all kinds of things for the bike, also all the other parts are interchangable with one another but do not know about this bike different frame but you might be able to put like ulysses foot controls on it. anyway if you want any advice just ask. Thruster - There is a top triple tree mod coming soon from American Sportbike (Al) You can add an inch or so in height by going with the Buell Tour Seat (Pegasus seat). It's thick and stiff enough that you shouldn't hit your tailbone on the plastic behind the seat. You can also add the passenger tour pillion that gives you a butt rest in back. The offset pegs for XBs and Lightnings supposedly works. Zack |

Thruster, I am 6'3" and feel quite at home on the bike, except in full tuck (a bit cramped, but not a lot of options out there). I rode a XB12Ss before, so comfort and fit it is relative to that. Having ridden a 06 GSXR600, 07 CBR600RR and a 05 929 Hornet, I would say the 1125r is much more comfortable than some of the other options out there for sport bikes. To each his own though, best thing to do is put a few test miles on one, or wait for an inside pass day. |

HEHEHE, I can't even touch the pillion cover with my butt when I'm riding. I must have short arms! JJ |

Several of Bratmanrider's mods would help a tall guy fit better ( 8th post from the top). I'm still working on doing his screen and mirror extension. 3 fused disks in my neck make it hard to tuck and see at the same time. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/336721.html?1202918080 Z |

I'm 6'3 and I LOVE the fit of the 1125. My xb12r was great after I put on the risers from American sportbike. This bike feels better without any mods. |

6'4" here, and love the 1125. The tuck is easier with wind actually hitting your body, it takes some weight off your hands. Although along with the height I have big feet (13) and hands, and have issue with any 7/8" handgrip...but that's a couple wraps of grip-tape from being fixed. 7/8" bars feel like a pair of pencils to me, and I grab too tightly as a response, fatiguing my hands. Before you ride, take the time to adjust the shift and brake pegs to match your feet. Makes ALL the difference between a good ride and a "WTF is wrong with this thing?" ride. But I'm getting an ACL replaced next week, and have no problems at all leg-wise on the 1125. |
