The book lists the new Z-shifter for the following 2 applications: 99-02 X1 and 96-98 S1/W models 97-02 M2, S3 without fairing lowers Any guess which one I want for an S2? You'd think they'd be the same since they bolt solely to the engine cases and never touch the frame...is it just a heim joint length difference? Or am I missing something? I'm not having issues with the boomerang, other than my feet are too damned big. I figure with the Z shifter I can drill a hole closer to the pivot (further from the footpeg) and give myself more room. Never would have thought of it until I started riding around on the 1125r with it's adjustable shifter and brake. Grrr... ;) |

Joe I would think the M2/S3 would be the closest. Take a look and see. Joe The S3 version. The X1/S1 version. |

both those pictures show the shifter set up for "reverse" shifting, 1 up, and 4 down, which is used widely at tracks... I used the X1 version on my S2, but had to shorten the lever about 1 1/2". This causes some notchy shifting as the lever is a short throw lever now, and not the nice long throw that it would have been stock. the footpegs are in different locations between the X1/S1 and the S2, which is the reason you need to shorten the lever... Leave it the stock length, and you will not be able to squeeze your foot in between the shifter and your footpeg... |

I was planning on shortening it anyway, since I have size 13 gunboats (thanks, mom...) and my new riding boots are taller in the toe than the old ones. Good info though, thanks! Now...where'd I put that Dremel... ;) |

Hunter: I'm interested in that lever if Rat doesn't need it. I've been looking for a used Banke set-up without much luck, so I may just make my own. Thanks Tom |

Thats what I have as you can see the main bolt is bent and will need to be straightened or replaced. what you cant see is the little eye screw thing at the top is also broken and will need to be replaced as well as two screws like the little one shown and a retaining screw for the piece that goes on the shifter spindle. ratbuell you are up first if you still want it PM me and I will figure what shipping is. |
