We’re all waiting on magazine reviews, but I have been waiting on my friends review. And I value his opinion regarding the 1125R more than I would a magazine. He is totally honest regarding a bike and has decent experience across multiple brands of bikes brands and shapes. My friend’s work brings him to LA every now and again and when it does we spend some riding time together. He is a motor head and own 3 Ducs (999, Monster S4R, 1000SS), a CBR 954 and a Triumph Sprint. He has his own dyno and tire changer as well. So yeah, a motor head. So yesterday I had all three Buells out. He was on the 1125R another friend of mine was on my XB9R and I was tooling around on my S1. Great fun by the way! And three generations of Buells out and about on the local canyons does turn some heads. Our first segment was about 20 miles of canyon. We stopped at a pullout and before he could get his helmet off he shouted “home run”. I asked him to clarify, “Buell has a home run on its hands”. He said, “This is the second time I have felt immediately comfortable on a bike and immediately at one with it. This bike is simply phenomenal. The first time I felt immediately comfortable on a bike was the Duc 999 and I bought it. This bike is better than the Duc in the power delivery. The motor and chassis are perfect. Brakes are perfect. Again, the bike is just phenomenal”. We rode around for about 200 miles yesterday and his initial impression just got more solidified as the day wore on. He has one nit with the bike and that is the turn signal switchgear. He does not like the lack of positive feel when pushing the cancel button. So for me, this is proof positive that I am not “over Buelled” in my way of thinking. My friend is brutally honest in his critique of things motorcycle and certainly does not hold back. In other words, his glowing “review” was honest and not designed to make me feel good. Asbjorn | ||

Nice review, Asborn. Hopefully others will only find the turn signal to be sub-par. Maybe just maybe, the glowing preproduction reviews were accurate. | ||

Well Ducati at least hit a double with the looks of the 999. Buell hit a bloop single to left with the 1125 styling. | ||

He he. I love making a believer of somebody (well, actually I didn't, the bike did). Last night my friend was looking around on buell.com for a good dealer around Cinci , OH. Any ideas? | ||

I enjoy a good discussion on styling as well as the next guy. Arguing about it is useless, though, as it is not quantifiable - and totally subjective. Comparing the 999 to the 1125 is a case in point. Both seem to incur strong reaction from the beholder, either positive or negative. I disliked the 999 the moment I saw it. OTOH, I loved the 1125. Opinions...we all have one. Jack | ||

I understand where you're coming from Doerman.. I know a guy that is all about the inline. He's a racer and swears by the gods of HP. He got a chance to ride an 1125 at one of the Inside Passes last year and every time I see him he smiles and talks about what a great bike it was. His only complaint.. Not enough power for 'real' superbike racing.. I just grin.. hoping the elves are getting ready to send him a wake up call.. | ||

Preconceived notion is a hard thing to look beyond. And we all have them. This is not exactly an 1125R on the track in a competition, but the XBRR is the forerunner.
